Hi I'm Payton

I'm a horse riding, football playing, water-skiing Idaho boy. And I'm a Mormon

About Me

I grew up in Idaho, but right now I am in the great state of Indiana preaching the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Before I was doing this though I was going to college in Montana and playing football for that school as well. I love to be out in the mountains, I love being in a rodeo arena with my brother. I will play pretty much any sport, but i am not the greatest at some of them. As a family we love to spend time together out on the water. We all love to water ski and that is where we have some of our greatest memories have been made.

Why I am a Mormon

Well even though I grew up in the church I was not the best representative of it for a long time. I was a big time rebel child and that really led me down the wrong path in this life. There came a time when I was in high school when I was really humbled by the Lord. We see in the scpritures many times where when we are not doing what is right we have those things that matter to us taken away from us. And that is what happened to me. I had football taken away from me. The doctors had said that I was going to be done for the season with a knee injury. I was really tore up about it. But my dad, who is a valiant member of the church gave me a Priesthood blessing that I know without a doubt was able to help me heal much quicker than the doctors thought. Within 6 weeks I was back on football field playing just like I was just a few weeks prior. I know from that experience that my Heavenly Father loves me. That one small incident in my life completely changed who I am. From then on I really started to do what is right and keep the commandments to the best of my ability. I still fall short every now and then, but that is where my Savior comes back in the game and helps me out. That one experience lead me to become fully active in the church. I know that this is the true gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that everything in this church comes from God. The only way i can know that is from reading and pondering and praying about the things that I am taught.

How I live my faith

The way I am living my faith right now is by serving as a full time missionary in the great state of Indiana. I go out everyday and talk to everyone i see about this amazing message of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Doing this has changed my life completely too. I have had the amazing privelage to see not only what the Gospel can do for me but for everyone that accepts this message. It is the best thing in the world to see people recognize the blessings that the Lord has to offer when we just simply follow Him and do what he has done.

Are Mormons Christians?

We are definately Christians. Christ's name is in the official title of the church. If you look to the top of the page you will be able to see that. Just like it says in James 2:17 "Faith without works is dead" we simply show our faith in Christ by the things that we do and say. If I didn't have Christ to set the example form me I wouldnt know what to do in this life. So I do my best to follow his teachings and example. Christ is my Savior, without him Iwould be so lost in this world. So we are Christians. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

No we are not. But if one chooses not to they are missing out on an opportunity of a life time. Serving a mission is a personal choice i have had many friends that have not served a mission. My dad didn't serve and i think the world of him. So missions aren't manditory, but they are strongly encouraged because when one does serve then they will be able to see first hand how true that this church is. Show more Show less
