Hi I'm Lanny Shea

I'm a Mormon. I live in Pahrump, Nevada, I grew up in a family of 5 children and a mother and father.

About Me

I am a mother of four daughtes. I am a grandmother of 15 grandchildren all of these people are the joy of my life, they are fun and exciting people to me. I am retired from teaching in Vocational Schools some two years ago I am enjoying spending time with my husband and family. Life is good, each day is a new day filled with some of the same things but there is always something to be learned and to be shared. I strive to live each day one at a time, and find that it fulfills me best.

Why I am a Mormon

I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Sanits (Mormon) because I choose Christ in my life. Without him I would be nothing. He loves me as he loves all of his children. I continue to be a member of this church because it is true, because it is the church established by Christ it shows me the way to live in truth and light. Joseph Smith was his prophet he saw God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ and saw that they are personages as we are we are in their image and gave him instruction to restore Christ's church again to the Earth. Joseph Smith also translated the Book of Mormon through the power of God it is Another Testiment of Christ and it is true. I know that there is a living Prophet today Thomas Monson and he recieves revelation for the good of the World today. I know these things to be true and it gives my life peace among all the chaos that happens each day in this world. I love my Savior and I know he loves me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being totally involved, I attend church weekly, I teach young women the doctrine of the church twice a week. We do spiritual things as well as fun activities that enhance their lives as well as my own. I also visit and talk to many women in my ward and in the community where I live. We enjoy being together and dicussing gospel topics and other good things that brighten our days and develop our friendships. I feel I have many friends because of my faith and that others add to my faith on a daily basis.

How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

Lanny Shea
Modesty, language and chastity are all connected in that our bodies are sacred creations made in the image of God. Therefore respecting this sacred gift means reserving physical intimacy for marriage between a man and a woman, covering our bodies appropriately in dress and using language about the body that is always uplifting. Parents can teach their children these principals of respect for their bodies so that they can qualify for the benefits of having the Holy Ghost with them. These are true principals and are real.
