Hi I'm Thane

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a religious educator for the LDS Seminaries and Institutes of Religion. I have been employed by them for 15 years and am currently at my 6th assignment. My family and I recently left Preston, Idaho to take my current assignment in Vernal, Utah at the invitation of my grandfather to take over his farm. As a father of 7 children, 1 girl and 6 boys, it was too good of an opportunity to pass up and we are loving it while learning lots.

Why I am a Mormon

I appreciate the challenge to live a Christlike life today and no organized religion challenges one more than the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. From my youth I've seen and more importantly felt the blessings of Heaven for living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This Church teaches true doctrine, is led by real Prophets, models the Church established by Jesus Christ in His day, and carries out the ordinances necessary for salvation in the ways prescribed in the scriptures. I love what the LDS Church does for families!

How I live my faith

Family first. We do our best to be self-reliant as a family both temporally and spiritually. This effort naturally turns one outward and I feel an inclination to take care of those around me. We do a lot of canning and bottling of goods raised in our family garden. We do a lot of chores on the farm together such as taking care of watering needs, cutting and hauling hay, and constant maintenance of fences, fields, and equipment. My wife and I serve together as 11 year old scout leaders. We meet weekly with them and camp at least 3 times a year with them. I try to emulate the teachings of Jesus Christ at home, in my workplace, and with others in my community. Admittedly there are days which go better than others but I keep trying to improve.
