Hi I'm Marie

I grew up in Oklahoma. I have 5 children. I am a classical musician. I love to cook. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay-home Mom of 5 very active, wonderful redheads. It's pretty easy to spot us in a crowd. I spend lots of my time keeping up with our children and taking them to various activities, such as football, orchestra, choir, volleyball, scouts, piano and more. I am a classical musician who plays the viola and piano in various groups. Creating good music is my outlet. As our children grow older and become better musicians, we have such a good time making music together (and then we all run off to support one of them in a sports game!) I also love to create nutritious food for our children and for others. I enjoy having people over for good food and good fun. I love to learn knew things in all areas of life and am always trying to figure out some new skill (currently it is photography). I enjoy keeping up with local, national and worldwide current events. I love our country. I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon. When I was young, my family moved to a very religious town in the Bible belt part of the country. I was often teased by others who lacked understanding of my beliefs. When I was 14, I decided to really determine for myself if I believed all I had been taught growing up. If I did, I could withstand the teasing. If I didn't, it wasn't worth it. I set out asking questions, studying the scriptures (particularly the Book of Mormon) more in depth and praying earnestly to God. Through the course of my searching, I gained a deeper knowledge and conviction of my beliefs. I also came to realize that I had always believed the teachings to be true, but needed to have my own testimony and a stronger personal relationship with God. I gained confidence to answer questions about my beliefs. Years later I went on a mission for our church, to the Dallas, Texas area.

How I live my faith

My faith and beliefs are an integral and inseparable part of my life. It is not hard for me to live my faith, because my conviction of God and Jesus Christ drives my decision-making. I am currently the President of the children's organization at church and spend time each week helping to keep that running. My favorite part of that current assignment is teaching. I love to teach! Whether it is basic truths about Jesus Christ, music, directing a choir or teaching a food class, I love to see people have that 'ah-ha moment.' Our family is involved in community service, in various school activities and projects and other needs that we are able to assist in. Living my faith as a Christian means internalizing Christ's teachings and perpetually looking to lift others and to assist those who are downtrodden in mind, spirit or body.
