Hi I'm Karen

I'm a Mormon. I was born and raised in Las Vegas,Nevada

About Me

I grew up with seven brothers and sisters. My oldest sister died of Hodgekins Disease when she was sixteen. I was eight years old. This loss so devestated my mother that she began drinking heavily. I learned fast that I needed to take care of myself and my little brother and sister. I took them to church with me every Sunday. We walked to and fro. I am still active, but my brothers followed the alcoholism. We still talk and are still friends. I met my husband and shared the gospel with him I graduated High School and joined the Army. We were married when I came back from training. I am currenly finishing up my college degree. We have children and grandchildren that are soo precious to me. I love to garden, cross-stich. I love to read and to listen to most kinds of music. I learned how to play the piano from my Grandmother. We have two sweet dogs.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the doctrines and testimonies have borne wittness to me, in my darkest hours as a youth and as an adult, that first, God loves me. He knows who I am, and He was willing send his Son to give up his life even if it were for just me. How great and profound that is to contemplate. I have held on in so many tough times and He has pulled me through, every time; Better and stronger than I thought was possible. The fullness of the gospel is only found here. All the saving ordinances are here not just a few here and there. The temple was a goal as a youth. I wanted an unbroken family so badly. I hung on to the pioneer example of my Grandmother and I am now able to cherish the saving ordinances for myself and my ancesters.

How I live my faith

I live my faith each day, by asking in prayer for the Lord to help me. I am weak in a lot of ways, but I recognize that I can get inspiration to guide me and forgiveness for my shortcomings. I am a chorister in our church. I lead the music for the womens group. I also write letters with a message each month from the Ensign magazine to ladies who prefer to be contacted by mail. I try to set a standard at work that shows respect of language and of dress standards and work ethic.. I try to read my scriptures daily before work and attend my meetings on Sundays, when I don't have to work. In our home we don't watch R rated movies or even questionable PG13 movies. We have family councils on our finances and family get togethers on Monday nights. We ask blessings on our food before we eat and I try to keep song in my heart all the time, to combat ill thoughts. I try to be kind and generous to everyone. I play good music to keep my heart and mind in tune with the wisperings of the Holy Spirit. I meditate and ponder all of my blessings and marvel at the wonderous beauty of the earth He has provided for us.
