Hi I'm Steve

I'm a husband, father and grandfather. I love and counsel my children and they counsel me. I believe in Christ. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am just a regular guy that works as a manager in a hospital laboratory. I am a dad and grandpa. The grandkids call me Papa Steve. I moved around when young with my mom and dad as they went to Philadelphia and New York for Medical School and training. I lost my father at a young age of 10 to an airplane accident and my mother more recently to cancer. I served a mission in Thailand. I love to sing and was able to do so at BYU with the Acappella group.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been so blessed and I am not always sure why. I realize that a testimony came early in my life. Around age 8 or 9 I was asked to sing "Oh how Lovely was the Morning" a song about the visit of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ to Joseph Smith. I felt a strong spirit when I sang the song and realize that was a confirmation of that event being true. When my Dad died I felt a great blessing of love and direction from Heavenly Father trying to fill the gap of this great loss. I was not a perfect boy and struggled but I know Heavenly Father loved me and He was never far. I don't know exactly why I was loved and taken care of so well. I seemed to be understanding more than most of my friends about Jesus Christ and his love for us. I felt His love first and then I found myself able to love others. He takes care of my wife, kids and grand-kids as I have watched them grow. In short I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints because I have come to know that Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ love us and want to be an real part of our lives. As I continue to study I have gained an assurance that the principles of his gospel are true.

How I live my faith

I currently help my Bishop (a man called to watch over a ward) as his executive secretary. I consider it a privilege to support people who want to learn more about Christ and want to live better by setting appointments for him and being involved in counseling with him about the way we feel our Heavenly Father wants to bless their lives. No man or woman is fully in charge of others but we believe we are called to represent what Heavenly Father would do to help facilitate good choices made with agency. I appreciate the opportunity to see this happen as well as be a part of it. I love that family comes first, I know I am a father first and then help with other aspects of the church. I live my faith by loving, teaching, learning, listening and helping bless my wife, children and mankind the best I can. I live my faith by accepting the council of the spirit in my life and it's direction. I live my faith by seeking God's will through study, prayer and faith.
