Hi I'm Galen

I live in Elk Grove, California. I currently have a family of five. I have one son and two daughters. I love my wife.

About Me

My father is Japanese who grew up in Hawaii all of his life. My mother is Chinese and grew up in Hong Kong. My wife is Chinese from Malaysia. I served my mission in Seoul, South Korea. I have spent a great deal of time traveling throughout Asia, including Japan, China, Korea, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. I grew up most of my non-adult life in Salt Lake City, Utah. I currently work as an attorney in California. I enjoy assisting clients with legal issues that need to be resolved. I specialize in labor and employment law. My hobbies include fly fishing, swimming, basketball, volleyball, and socializing. I also enjoy traveling. I speak conversational Japanese, Korean, and Cantonese.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up my entire life in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon Church). It was not until my parents went through a divorce that I began to question church. I had difficulties and was highly resistant to go to church after that point. Due to my feelings, I did not go to church for many, many years. In college, however, I felt lost and sought direction from friends. The leaders from my mother's ward (church), came to me and challenged me to read the Book of Mormon. Feeling annoyed and wanting them out of my presence, I promised to read the book. I did not immediately do so. It was several months later that I saw the book on my shelf and decided to read theBook of Mormon. The answer did not come immediately, but one morning, I did receive a feeling so powerful that I knew that this church was true. After I received this confirmation, I did everything I could to straighten my life. I then went on a mission to Seoul, South Korea. My life changed after that point and now I consider my life to be "happy". I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and can bring the same happiness to others.

How I live my faith

I am currently a member missionary in my area. My calling is a bit unique because i work among the Chinese people. I teach them the gospel and try to find people to teach. I enjoy introducing them to the Book of Mormon and my faith. My family is how I live my faith. My children and wife are priceless. My wife and I try to teach our children principles of the gospel. We teach them to pray, to spend time with the family, to go to church, to love one another, and to have faith. Our children consumes a great deal of my time and I believe that teaching our children is my way to exercise faith. We currently spend a great deal of time teaching the Chinese people in our community. Many come from China and have never heard of our church. Some have no idea who Jesus Christ is. Despite the difficulties we have teaching, we know that someday this work will spread to the largest country in the world. China still does not allow missionary work in its boundaries (except Hong Kong) so this is the next best thing.
