Hi I'm Stephan

I served a mission to China, Hong Kong. My wife and I are raising three children and one dog.

About Me

I spend most of my free time with my kids. I love performing and have been involved in professional theater for the past 15 years. I write poetry and love to read. I finished my education at the University of Southern California. I received my MSW (Master of Social Work) and graduated a Dean Scholar. My passion is assisting others overcome bad habits and/or self defeating beliefs that hinder them from reaching their potential. We truly can overcome weaknesses through the power of Jesus Christ and the Atonement. I hope to one day return to Hong Kong as a senior missionary (with my wife) and continue teaching the people of China.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. Joseph Smith restored the Gospel of Jesus Christ upon the earth and translated the Book of Mormon by the power of God. I prayed to know if Joseph Smith was a prophet and if the Book of Mormon was true. Moroni 10: 3-7 explains an awesome promise to those who seek to know if the Book of Mormon is true. I have followed that promise and am grateful to have a testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

The gospel is first in my life. I have a testimony of prayer and how important it is to draw closer to our Heavenly Father and receive his direction. Alma 34: 21-22 teaches us to pray throughout the day: "Cry unto him in your houses, yea, over all your household, both morning, mid-day, and evening. Yea, cry unto him against the power of your enemies." Because of my busy life, I set my watch to three alarms: 9am-3pm-9pm. When my watch alarm rings, it reminds me to find a quiet place and sincerely pray to my Heavenly Father, giving him thanks for the miracles he has blessed me with in my life. Through the power of the Atonement, I have overcome serious challenges in my life, and now enjoy living my faith and living my religion. I am grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

The Mormon lifestyle is one focused on spiritual, physical and mental health! For optimum health in these three areas, we live a Word of Wisdom that keeps us physically and spiritually strong. Our bodies are amazing gifts from our Heavenly Father and as such, we take great care to ensure that we are free from any addictive substances or practices that may keep us from bearing the light of Christ. We love to learn and are encouraged to gain knowledge, both spiritually and temporally. We love education (both formal and informal) and gaining knowledge during our lifetime. The family is the most important reason for following Christ. We engage in regular family activities and advocate for strong family relationships. Show more Show less
