Hi I'm Joan

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 36 years and have 7 children. I have six girls and one boy. They are all living on their own. Six are married and four have children. I have twelve grandchildren and one more to arrive in February 2012. I have a wonderful husband who is a worthy priesthood holder. My talents and hobbies are Family History, crochet, balloon flower bouquets and other creations, cake decorating, scripture memoriation, cross stitch, and painting, and guitar.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church when I was 2 days short of 19 years old. When I was a Junior and Senior in High School I found myself surrounded by members of the church. I saw how happy they were and desired happiness in my own life. I wasn't unhappy but I didn't have the joy that I could see in their countenances. I took the discussions from a return missionary and then took them from the full time missionaries. My father told me that if I joined the church I would have to leave home. I exercised faith and prayed that the Lord would help me to find some place to live. The Spirit guided me to the LDS bookstore in Mesa Arizona where a sister asked me to come live with her. I later came to know her as Granny. A year later I was married in the Mesa Temple to my husband of 36 years. Two years after I joined the church, I read the Book of Mormon in its entirety. I received a testimony and have since then memorized many of its passages. I know it is true. It is poetry to my ears and it fills my soul with so much joy and peace.

How I live my faith

I have served with the sisters of the church, and the youth from nursery age to 18 years. I have taught family history classes as well as early morning scripture study with the youth of the church. I have lead discussions with the adult members of the church in Sunday gospel doctrine classes. The gospel has changed and enriched my life. It gives me so many opportunities for growth through my service to others. Through my trials I have learned to exercise faith in the Lord. My testimony has grown as I have exercised my faith, studied the scriptures and prayed. I love my Father in Heaven and my Savior, Jesus Christ. I am grateful for my knowledge and testimony of the atonement and the resurrection.
