Hi I'm Kathy Rhoades

I've lived my whole life in Utah. I am a wife, a mother, and a grandma and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the mother of 7 children whom I love very much. We have 8 granddaughters that are the best!! I have been a "stay at home" mother for most of our married life. I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved being involved in the school programs, going to sports events with the children that participated in those events, and dancing/gymnastics for the ones who participated in that area. We had a small farm where we raised animals for the kids to take to the fair. That was a great experience for our children to learn the value of work. We now continue to watch sporting events that our grandchildren participate in, as well as piano recitals, and choir concerts. Life doesn't get much better than that! I enjoy reading, gardening (some days more than others), and having lunch with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the Mormon (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) church. I chose not to attend church when I was in my teenage years. My dear, sweet husband "reintroduced" me into the church and we started attending together while we were dating. We were sealed together in the Ogden Temple. I have spent my life learning/studying more about the gospel and it is something I treasure. I know that I am a better person because of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It brings me peace, happiness and contentment. This is not to say that I don't have my trials, challenges, etc that everyone in this life has to go through, but I know that I have a Father in Heaven who loves ME, knows ME and cares about my happiness. I can't imagine not having that knowledge and being able to get through this life. When there are challenges that come, I know they will pass, and there will have been more growth for me.

How I live my faith

Each morning I begin my day with scripture study with my husband, then I have my personal prayers to my Heavenly Father. I ask Him for guidance/protection during the day and let Him know what I have planned. I always pray that I will be aware of what He would have me do and try to "listen" during the day and do His will. I have always had a calling to serve in the church. I have taught in Primary (young children), Young Womens (12-18 years of age), and Relief Society (women 18+). I have also served in leadership positions in each of these organizations. We can truly seek the spirit of our Heavenly Father to be guided in what He would have us accomplish in our callings and in our daily lives. One of my favorite ways of striving to live my faith is through what we call the Visiting Teaching program. I, (with a companion), have 2 sisters that we have a stewardship over. We check with them, at least monthly, to see how they are doing, how their families are, and if there is anything that we can help them with. If they need anything (meals when they are sick, rides to the doctor, a listening ear, etc.) we are their friends. We laugh together, we cry together, we pray together, and we celebrate together. Likewise, I have 2 sweet sisters that come to my home and check on my well being. It is truly a way we can share our Saviors love with one another. I continually strive to be a better visiting teacher.
