Hi I'm Kristi

I grew up in Northern California. I am a mother of three. I love to read, sing, and be with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an avid reader. My favorite genre is historical fiction. However, I love to read a wide variety of subjects from Jane Austins' romances to fantasy such as "Fablehaven." I have always loved music and singing, although the thought of doing a solo terrifies me. I prefer to sing in a choral setting where my voice can contribute in a small way to the large group. I am a stay-at-home mother of three. I cook, clean, sew, do home canning and gardening. As a family we enjoy the outdoors and love hiking, camping, playing at the beach or the park, and just being together.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a small town where few shared my family's faith. My parents taught me about Jesus Christ from infancy and we grew up as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As a young child in primary (where children ages 3-11 have classes on Sunday) I was blessed with a wonderful teacher. One day he challenged our class to go home and pray and ask Heavenly Father if the things we had talked about that day were true. I chose to take him up on that challenge and that night as I said my prayer before bed I asked if the things we had learned about in class that day were true. I remember a wonderful feeling filling up my chest. It was warm and comforting and l know it was the Lord telling me that it was true. I was probably 10 or 11 at the time and since then I have had many experiences that have strengthened that testimony. When I was 21 I chose to serve a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Before leaving on that mission I was challenged to read through the Book of Mormon from cover to cover. I had done so before, but decided to read it again. I remember spending hours out in the field behind our home reading chapter after chapter. I couldn't get enough of those wonderful words that testified of my Savior Jesus Christ. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, that the Bible is the word of God and that reading the scriptures has brought me not only peace of mind, but has brought me closer to my Savior. I LOVE the gospel of Jesus Christ!

How I live my faith

I believe that living my faith is a way of life. It is personal from reading scriptures daily and praying to my Father in Heaven. It is apparent in the way I speak (not swearing and being kind to others in speach). It is in the way I choose to dress by keeping my body modest. I also freely volunteer my time to serve in the church. My current calling is a primary teacher for children age 8-9 in my ward. I am also a visiting teacher which means that I have a responsibility to watch over some of the other women in my ward. I visit them monthly (or more as needed) to make sure that they are doing well physicall, mentally and spiritually. If they have a need I try to address that need to the best of my ability. I believe that living my faith also means teaching my children to follow Jesus' example. I believe that when we follow the example of Jesus we reach out to anyone we see around us who has a need and do our best to help.
