Hi I'm Walt Zimmerman

I grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and have lived in Arizona since 1957. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsulvania; attended Temple U. U. of Pennsylvania and Arizona State U.;spent 3 1/2 years in the US Army; 20 years as an instrumentation engineer and 38 years in the insurance and investmtnet business. I have been actively involved for over 70 years with the Boy Scouts of America. My spouse and family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, at age 28, in 1960, actively serving since that time. We have 6 children, 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Civic activities include37 years with the Sertoma Club of Mesa.

Why I am a Mormon

After having moved here I heard so much evil and disparraging comments about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints that it aroused my curiosity. Could there be be a group of people worthy of so much derision and not be prominently publicized in the local media?  It seems that what I heard and what I observed were in diametric conflict. This went on for several years until one evening we were approached by a couple of church representatives who offered to tell us about the Church. After listening to the complete message, We were baptised and joined the Church. The derision continiues, but what my family experienced is the diametric opposite from what the nay-sayers are saying. What we saw in the lives of the menbers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Spoke far more clearly than we heard from detractors We came to know beyond any shadow of doubt that the fullness of the Gospel has been restored to the earth. Further we now know the true relationship we have with God the Father and Jesus Christ, why we are here on the earthin this mortal condition. Even with the trials and tribulations we all experience as mortals we have great joy in life and look forward to eternal life with them.

How I live my faith

We have served in many capacities in the Church continuoisly since joining in 1960. The callings include 7 years of missionary service, 6 years as Bishop to our congregation, 8 years on leadership councils and many other assigned leadership responsibilities. All duing that time I was involved in working with the youth; primarily with the scouting programs. We have been actively involved with neighborhood watch program for 20+ years. Additionally I have been actively involved with the Sertoma Club of Mesa providing financial and human resources to various charitable organizations in the community. All these activities are in keeping with the admonition and example of Jesus Christ to cheerfully serve our fellow man in what ever way is needed. We fully believe in the saying, "service it the rent we pay for the space we take up on this earth".
