Hi I'm Karen

I'm a wife, mother of 7 (14 with spouses), & 32 grandchildren. I am a child of God and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Wisconsin, the youngest of 5 children, with wonderful parents and grandparents. I am now a wife & mother of 7 children, 7 wonderful son/daughters-in-law and 32 grandchildren. I enjoy reading, being with friends, serving others, crocheting and cooking. I also love to write story books for my grandchildren. I love traveling to visit my family who are scattered across the country and visiting church historic sites. I also help with a power soccer team of young men with disabilities. I love cheering them on and watching them playing soccer and having lots of fun. They have improved so much over the years and really brighten my day. The young men and their families are great examples to me.

Why I am a Mormon

The missionaries came to my families door when I was only 7 years old. My family had spent some time in Lovelock, NV and were very impressed by their Mormon neighbors so the missionaries were invited in to teach us. My mother and 3 of my siblings joined the church at that time. My older sisters got married and stayed active in the church, but my mother and brother and I were not always active. I was struggling and feeling that something was missing in my life and as I continued to pray I knew the Lord would help me find the way. One day the Bishop showed up at my home and asked my mother and I to help out in church, and it changed my life. I went back to church and everyone was so kind and loving. I had graduated from HS and was working in the area and was inspired to try to get into BYU. That gave me the opportunity to learn more about the gospel and strengthened my testimony. I know that the Lord has a plan for me and has done more with my life than I could have done on my own. I have felt his guidance and direction in my life every day. He has been there through all my joys and sorrows and has given me peace. My favorite scripture is found in the Book of Mormon. It is found in I Nephi 3:7 "And it came to pass that I, Nephi said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them." Knowing that the Lord has faith and confidence in me helps me to endure and try to do the things that are right. This scriptures has helped to bring much joy into my life and helps me make it through the many trials that we all experience every day.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving others and trying to be kind to everyone I meet. I am presently working at the Home Storage Center and have met so many wonderful people, both members and non-members of the church. They teach me so much. I have found many wonderful friends from this service. They really brighten my days. I have also served in the Women's organization, with the children and also with the young women's organizations. My life is full and I have been so blessed with wonderful family and friends. I know that my Savior lives and loves me. I know that he died for me and that one day I may live with him again. I find so much joy in the gospel, and I know that it is the only way to true happiness. And this especially brings me great comfort during these difficult times.
