Hi I'm Dave

I was born and raised in Washington, DC. I have been a church member all my life. I am a Mormon.

About Me

Being born and raised in the church, I have always been active in the church. My interests outside the church are sports, particularly baseball ( I was offered pro contracts out of high school, and played on a national championship junior college team), music ( I love Broadway shows, municipal orchestras, I played the clarinet thru junior and senior high school, and I currently sing in the Colorado Mormon Chorale), hiking, biking, and fishing. I was the oldest child in my family, having three younger sisters, and i have five sons and a daughter.

Why I am a Mormon

Being born and raised in the Church, I attended church with my family from the time I was born thru the time I left for college. My initial attraction was many friends in the church, and a very active youth group thru my teenage years. I had a very qualified Sunday School teacher when I was 15, and our course of study that year was the Book of Mormon. The instructor was a West Point graduate going to law school in Washington, DC. He taught the teachings and stories of the Book of Mormon with passion - it was obvious he had a strong testimony of the book and wha it meant in his life. I read the book that year, sought and received a testimony of its truthfulness, and have increased my knowledge and testimony of the church and its teachings thru the years. I have a sure knowledge that Jesus is the Christ, and that thru Him and the Atonement, living his teachings, and serving others we can return to our Father in Heaven. The church teaches principles such as honesty, family togetherness, diligent work, love of all God's children, self reliance, education, strong ethical behavior and other such principles which provide a basis for happy, successful living.

How I live my faith

I live my Faith by trying to incoporate the teachings of Christ in my every day life. It is important to serve in the church, be friendly with all whom I come in contact, respect each person for his or her beliefs, be honest in my business dealings, and be the best father that I can be. It is important in my life to pray each day, seeking guidance in my every day affairs and answers to personal situations. It is important to increase my gospel knowledge by studying scriptures and reading church books and magazines. It is important to listen to church leaders at all levels, understand their messages and incorporate them in my life. It is important to grow my testimony of the divinity of Jesus Christ, and apply His teachings in my every day life.
