Hi I'm Nancy

I have 7 children, 13 grandchildren and I've been married for 40 years. I've also done Scouting for almost 40 years.

About Me

I'm a wife, mom, and grandma. I have my BS degree in Early Childhood Education. I've homeschooled my last 3 children. Several of my children/grandchildren have learning difficulties. I've spent a lot of my time researching how to help them learn so that they can do the best that they can. I've also been involved in Cub/Boy Scouts for 40 years: from Den leader to Assist District Commissioner. I love Cub Scouts! It is an awesome program that helps boys learn and grow.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I love learning truth. I have found that all truth resides in the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ--the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. My great-grandparents joined the church in Denmark and immigrated to the United States. So, I was raised in a home where the gospel was taught. I was baptized when I was 8 years old and I have always felt that the Church is true but as I get older I realize how blessed I am that I have always had it in my life. I often want to stand up and shout...."The Gospel is True...it REALLY IS TRUE." I have family members that have continued to live by the Gospel's truth and others that have not.... and the contrast is very revealling! What is missing in their lives is the peace, comfort and happiness that only comes from having truth as your standard. The more I study the scriptures, the more truth I find that helps me deal with everyday life. The Book of Mormon has been especially helpful in my continued journey to learn truth.

How I live my faith

Our family goal is to show kindness and respect not to just family members but to everyone we come in contact with. We also pray about everything! My current 'calling' is Webelos Cub Scout leader. I get to be a co-leader with my husband. I also visit an elderly shut-in lady that lives with her daughter and son-in-law. Often they need help getting her to doctor and therapy appointments. They all have become dear friends. I've been attending a weekly scripture class for women for the past 15 years. We are just finishing up a 3 years study of the Book of Mormon. I also enjoy singing in our ward choir.

In whom should we have faith?

Faith in Jesus Christ is what will get us through ALL THINGS. He IS THE ANSWER TO EVERYTHING! It sounds trite, but it is really true. Years ago I was teaching a Family Home Evening lesson to our children, and I don't remember what the topic was. The youngest, who was probably around 5 yrs old, keep yelling out, 'Jesus', for every answer. I was getting really annoyed because that wasn't the answer that I was looking for and he was ruining what I thought was the purpose of the lesson. I told him to stop and be more serious, but he continued. As I was getting ready to reprimand him again, I had the realization that what he was speaking was true! Jesus is the answer to everything. Because of Jesus, we will all have our bodies restored to us in perfect condition. Because of Jesus, we can all repent and return to Heavenly Father. So, it really isn't about the 'What' that happens to us. We can be at peace no matter 'What' happens, because of Jesus. In August of 2009, we got to apply our faith when our 8yr old grandson died in a car accident. Hard? Sure! But, knowing that death is not final and that we will be able to be with him again, gives us the determination to moving forward, to not give up. Check out my daughter's blog.
