Hi I'm Nate

I was born and raised in the Phoenix Valley, Arizona. I'm proudly a nerd and a jock and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a wonderful family: an awesome mom and dad, three older sisters, and a younger brother. Three of my siblings are married and they probably hope I will join the ranks soon :) Playing with my nieces and nephews is one of my favorite things to do. Their spirit always lifts mine. I have a degree in Economics and I am continuing my schooling in order to apply to medical school soon. I love subjects like math and any of the sciences. I tutor some students here and there, and that is also one of my favorite things to do. I have a passion for soccer, and I have been lucky enough to play it for many years, oftentimes on the same team as a best friend of mine. Life is good, and it is even better when we are helping and loving each other. I am blessed with friends and family that show me how that is done!

Why I am a Mormon

Though I can only hope to be as faithful a member someday as Peter was in his day, I can relate to his response to the Savior when he asked the apostles if they would join the many people who were choosing to longer follow him. Peter said, "...Lord, to whom shall we go? thou has the words of eternal life." I feel that way with the Gospel (the teachings of Jesus) as contained in the Mormon Church. It brings me closer to Christ as I live it. I have seen that is true. It would be difficult to even entertain the the thought of leaving this church, because I wonder, to whom or where would I go? This is what brings me joy and what I have felt is right and true. How could I turn my back on what has brought me so much of the things that are really important. As I read the Book of Mormon and pray about it, I feel the same feeling that I do about the Bible, that it has also come from God as a testament that Jesus is the Christ and that it is only through Him and His Gospel that we can be truly happy.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by treating others as the Savior would treat them, though I am often fail more times than I would like to admit. I think that we all have the opportunity to lift many people around us. I try to always be aware of how other feel and build instead of tear down. I know that I have been greatly helped by loving people in my life who have always encouraged me and treated my like I had great potential. I really believe that each one of us has the greatest potential imaginable, and we need to be helping each other reach that potential. Though I am far from the best example of helping others, I try to in little ways like baby-sitting for siblings, or helping classmates with learning material (when I understand it :)), or helping out in my community a few hours a week by volunteering at the hospital and coaching a youth soccer team. I love the opportunities I have in our church to visit others and help be part of a system in which we all mutually support each other in living Christ's teachings. In my church group, I help organize activities a couple times a month that are designed to build unity, help foster friendships, and help us all learn more about Christ's Gospel. We really are God's hands. Trying to remember that this life is a time to try and become more like God and His Son, Jesus, helps me understand how I should act.
