Hi I'm Savannah

I am a lover of words and other beautiful things. I am an adventurer who loves to smile. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a journalist with dreams of trekking across the globe with a camera in one hand and a pen in the other. I just completed my first year at the university and I am now headed out on an 18 month LDS mission to Fukuoka, Japan. I have spent much of my life on grand adventures with my family from Mexico to England to our own backyard as we hike the beautiful mountains in the Pacific Northwest.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents are members of the church and therefore I was raised in the gospel, however I relied heavily on their testimonies for my early childhood. I remember as I prepared for my baptism at the age of eight, reflecting on what I knew to be true. I knew that my Heavenly Father loves me. With that knowledge, my testimony steadily grew over time. I now stand here, 11 years from my baptism day, with a continuing knowledge that my Heavenly Father loves me. I know that He loves you, He sent His son Jesus Christ to the earth as a Savior. Jesus Christ walked the earth full of love, service and complete willingness to do His Father's will. Christ died for me, he died for you and I know this is true. I know the true church is on the earth once more. Joseph Smith prayed in a grove of trees asking which church was true. God revealed to Joseph Smith that day that none of the churches were true and he would help bring the true church back onto the earth once more, restored in the original condition. I know that this gospel provides the way back to live with our loving Father in Heaven once more and this gospel fulfills all of my questions just as it fulfilled Joseph Smith's question in the grove of trees in 1820. I am a member of His church because I am imperfect and I cannot make it through my time on earth without knowledge that I can be forgiven. That knowledge comes from my belief in Christ and His atonement. I am a member of His church because I am trying my very best. By learning more of my Heavenly Father through His church, I know that he loves me and is proud of me. I know God through this church and therefore, I know what he wants me to do. I am a member of this church because I love my family. This gospel teaches me of eternal families and confirms to me that my earthly family and I are part of a Heavenly Eternal family. I am a member of His church because I want to be with my Heavenly Father again and He is showing me how I can.

How I live my faith

I have been heavily involved in my community's festival through pageants, carnivals, parades, service projects, etc. This has given me the opportunity to share with many people throughout the state my beliefs. As I strive to be an example to my three younger siblings, I am always reminded of the example that Jesus Christ is to me. I am so grateful that as I do all things throughout my life from schoolwork to participating in leadership positions in church, I am guided by a loving Heavenly Father. I live my faith by loving my faith. My faith gives me joy and guides my life, I love sharing that with others around me.
