Hi I'm Kelly

I didn't want to continue on but Jesus spoke to me saying "if you want to go are you ready to go? I found the love of the Savior!

About Me

I am a counselor for Apache Native American teens. They love feeling the Spirit. They face great heartache and confusing and complex challenges starting early from their youth. Some of these challenges are because many within their culture are steeped in a tradition of alcohol abuse. Because of their sensitivity to the Spirit I often feel the Lord witnessing to them. They respond when I mention prayer as a solution for their problems. I feel the Lords love in great strength towards them and I sense his sympathy for his chosen people of Israel. I love their willingness to learn about the Savior. They do believe in a Savior. I feel so blessed to witness to them of how much the Lord cares about them even through their trials and sorrow. At home I am a mother. I married a husband whose wife died. He had 9 children and I had 4. Plus one who we call part of our family who stayed with us. I consider being a wife and a mother as a sacred calling.

Why I am a Mormon

I searched out many churches and asked a lot of questions. I found one that believed in Revelation (where God speaks to man, (or woman). I knew this was true because the Savior spoke to me. My experience was within my mind and heart. My legs were quivering uncontrollably I could feel the Saviors penetrating influence reviewing actions from my past where I had made mistakes. When the Savior spoke to me and showed me that he knew all about me, even my mistakes and still loved me perfectly I knew I wanted to get get to know him better. It was a love that completely filled my being. I had never felt that kind of love before. I wanted to live so that next time I gave an account of my life he would be proud of all my actions. I yearned and craved to feel those feelings again. I began my search to feel what I had already felt. I asked many questions. The missionaries came to teach me at my apartment. I was searching into other churches at the same time. The opposition was fierce. Other churches said this church was a cult. I fasted, prayed and asked the Lord if this church was true. I still did not know for sure. After three days of fasting; two days of which the missionaries fasted I decided I had learned more about the Savior than I ever had before. I wanted to learn more and be baptized and cleansed from all sin. I had received witnesses and visions about the Book of Mormon but I did not realize that was my answer. After I made the commitment of baptism I received more witnesses. An answer came from the missionaries that taught me. One bore his testimony saying "This is not the church of Joseph Smith; this is the church of Jesus Christ and Joseph Smith was willing to restore it exactly as the Savior wanted him to. I felt the Spirit in its strength where it filled my being and tears were coming down my cheeks; tears of joy. The witness seemed to overflow from inside and witness with such a power that I had never before felt and can never ever again deny.

How I live my faith

Currently I teach the youth Sunday School lessons I try to make learning fun for them. I love to ask the youth questions that tax their thinking skills and allow them to verbalize the things they are learning. I love this job at church. In the past I have been a leader in organizing lessons and and have visited in the homes to strengthen and buoy up women. I have been a leader for youth and organized spiritual lessons and activities for teenage girls. I also attended camp with them. I have also been in leadership positions with children and helped organize activities and keep records and work in a presidency over children. I also entertained and led music to teach children songs about the gospel.
