Hi I'm Troy

I grew up in California. I joined the Army soon after 9/11 as a medic and currently serve as an Army chaplain. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I might be middle-aged, but I still like to be active. The youthful Army soldiers I serve help me with that. I enjoy playing sports such as basketball, softball, and football, and even dodgeball occasionally (If I can dodge some bullets then I can dodge some balls). I like to hold my own when I go run with my soldiers even though I lack oxygen running in the Colorado air. I also enjoy reading, listening to music, and hanging out with my wife and children.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because of the many spiritual witnesses that I have received from my youth until now testifying to me that the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are true which has given me great joy and peace; that we have living prophets and apostles today leading Christ's Church just as He organized during his mortal ministry; that we have another witness of Christ as found in the Book of Mormon which will bring people closer to Christ if they prayerfully read it with a willingness to know the truth; and that we can be together with our families forever after our mortal probation here on earth as we partake of sacred ordinances in God's temples and strive to live a Christ-like life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith one day at a time. What helps me to be more valiant in the faith are daily prayer to God, scripture study, and applying God's teachings in my life. Although life can be overbearing at times, I find that when I apply these steps daily I have greater strength to live my faith, I feel closer to the Lord, and I feel happy and at peace regardless of my circumstances.
