Hi I'm Norlis McKay

I'm a Mormon. I have been a school administrator and loved to work with children.

About Me

Hi! I am the father of 5 wonderful children. I am a retired public school administrator. I enjoyed working with young people for 37 years. I grew up on a farm in Idaho with 6 other siblings. We were raised to be honest, hard working, caring of others and to follow the teachings of the Savior. I served a mission in Australia. I married a very special lady that I met at college. We have enjoyed raising our children and seeing them grow up and begin their own lives. Our family became closer when we experienced the death of our son who drown. We have a garden each summer. It is nice to enjoy the fresh tomatoes, lettuce, carrots, corn, squash and potatoes.

Why I am a Mormon

Throughout my life I have had a deep love for the Savior, Jesus Christ. This love of and desire to become like him has lead me to pray daily, read the scriptures daily and strive to live His teachings as best as I could. My testimony that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was the true church was first given to me through my parents. I have had to develop my own testimony and stand on my own study and learning. This occurred while I was serving a mission. I now can now say that I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the only true church because I have ask through prayer and received this knowledge from the Holy Ghost that it is true.

How I live my faith

My wife and I chose to teach our children through example and precept the teachings of Jesus Christ. We did this through daily family scripture reading. This meant that each morning we rose and gathered as family to read our scriptures before school. Each took their turn to read. We also had family prayer each morning and night and a family gathering each week. We had activities some weeks and other times we had a lesson to discuss the teachings of the Savior and how we could live His teachings individually and as a family. For myself, I have established a pattern of reading the scriptures on my own each day. This means rising early and taking personal time to read the scriptures and have personal prayer. Somehow this pattern has assisted me to be better at keeping the Saviors commandments and not getting caught up in the worldly ways.
