Hi I'm Emmalou

I like to sew matching pajamas for my grandchildren. I love to read. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a school teacher and a cub scout leader. I enjoy swimming, hiking and walking. I also enjoy live theater, especially musicals. I only wear comfortable shoes. I enjoy spending time with my family. I help care for my aging mother. I like to babysit my grandchildren. I have a young grandson who is diabetic. My husband is my best friend.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. As a child I took it for granted, but as I grew older I began to appreciate the truthfulness of this Gospel. I know I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and has a plan for me to be happy and return to Him. I have found the answers to many of life's questions, especially when I was raising my children, through the teachings of Jesus Christ. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet and that he was guided by God to restore the same church to the Earth that Jesus Christ established when He lived on Earth. I know the scriptures--the Bible, Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price and Doctrine and Covenants--are true. I read them on a regular basis to get inspiration on how to live and follow the example Jesus set for us. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer and the son of God. I know we are led today by a prophet of God. I have found much joy in following the commandments of God and the teachings and revelations He gives us through His prophet and apostles.

How I live my faith

I serve in our community as a cub scout den leader. I rely on the teachings of the Gospel to help me get to know the boys I work with, understand their needs and how I can help them develop positive character traits. This also helps me in my career as a teacher. I remember the example of Jesus and strive to be patient and kind. I visit other women in my neighborhood to let them know that they are loved and valued and to see if there is any service that they need. Everyone needs a smile and a word of encouragement and appreciation. Sometimes more help is needed due to health concerns or other issues. Life wasn't meant for us to travel alone. We need to walk together and help each other.
