Hi I'm Aaron De La Rosa

I ballroom dance with my beautiful wife, love music, love martial arts, proud to be a sailor in the U.S Navy and I'm a mormon.

About Me

Hi, I'm Aaron a recent convert to the church. Texas born and raised, I joined the U.S Navy right out of high school because I realized I didn't want to go to college. The joke was on me because the Navy sent me to the Nuclear Power Program school for two years, the good thing is that they paid me to do that. It was a very challenging school and I took up ballroom dancing as a way to blow off some steam(and meet girls). Little did I know that it was going to become a passion of mine and the way I was going to meet my beautiful wife. Once I finished my training, I was stationed onboard an aircraft carrier home ported in California. During my four year tour there I got to skydive in Hawaii, zip line in Canada, ride a camel in Dubai, see pick-pocketing monkeys in Japan, visit Asia Disneyland in Hong Kong, snorkel in Guam and visit places like Singapore, Malaysia, and South Korea. I met my wife at a local ballroom dancing studio after coming back from a deployment. I had no idea that pretty girl in an orange dress was going to change me life. Now I'm a Navy recruiter in beautiful Colorado, enjoying the amazing scenery and living the family life. My wife and I just bought our first house. I'm so excited to have a place to call home and enjoy the love of my wife and our baby cat. Not to mention I now have a man cave to play Xbox, workout, and mount my Tae Kwon Do black belt on the wall as a reminder that hard work pays off (and that I am awesome).

Why I am a Mormon

Early in our relationship, my wife invited me to her weekly monday night activity for young adults at church. That night I learned that the LDS church and the Mormon church were the same church. I realized I didn't know anything about the Church but my wife was more than happy to answer my questions. As I got a chance to meet and become friends with members of the Church, I realize there was something different about them. Not in a bad way but there was a kind of happiness about them that just made them different. When I met my wife's family, there was a happiness and love that was just contagious and made me feel at home. As I started learning more about the Church I was attracted to the way that the family units were so strong and loving towards each other and also I was attracted to the devotion of each member. My wife encouraged me to meet with the missionaries to learn the basics of the Church. During these meetings, many basic but important questions about living life were answered. They shared the basic principles of the gospel which were very simple concepts of how to live a happy and fulfilling life. It was a young missionary that helped me feel the love of God and the hope that comes with a life of living the Gospel. He expressed his love for the Gospel and the pride in my efforts to read the Book of Mormon, through tears of joy that helped me understand the truth. When I moved to Colorado and met the members of our local congregation, it was an amazing feeling to be surrounded by such an outstanding group of people that were devoted to their beliefs and serving their fellow man. They didn't care hat I wasn't a member, they just cared that I was there sharing the Gospel with them. My father in law baptized me and since that day I've felt happy in a way I can't explain.

How I live my faith

Being a new member to the church, I feel like I am still figuring out exactly what I'm doing but I have my wonderful wife to lead the way. I also have the support of all my fellow members to learn from. I enjoy the opportunity to learn about the Gospel with my wife on sundays. We both are part of the local congregation choir. I'm happy to be able to share my love for music with her and share the beautiful message of the gospel with fellow members. We also both serve the youth in our congregation. She organizes activities for young girls and I am a den leader for the boy scout troop sponsored by our congregation. Its great to have the opportunity to be a mentor for these young men.
