Hi I'm Spencer

I'm 20, serving a mission her in Texarkana, TX, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Longmont, CO in 1993. I moved to Loveland, CO with my family in 1998 then to Johnstown, CO in 2012. I am now serving in the Mississippi Jackson mission as a fully time Mormon missionary you may have seen and maybe have igonored.

Why I am a Mormon

Well why would I not be one? How could I not be one if I could never feel the love of God in my life when I read the Book of Mormon and live the Lord's commandments? I love being a Mormon for that reason. I could not see myself anywhere else unless I was one.

How I live my faith

The most important way I live my faith is to read the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is the cornerstone to the knowledge that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that the church is true. The next biggest thing is living God's commandments. When I do these things I come to know God's love for me and see the blessings of living the gospel.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Spencer
Some of the Mormon customs is how we dress for church. Men can wear formal clothes like suits, sport coats, and ties while women wear modest dresses or skirts. Mormons celebrate Christmas and Easter to celebrate Jesus's birth, suffering, death, and resurrection. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Spencer
We don't drink coffee, tea, or alcohol because, as science has discovered, it's harmful to your body. These as well as illegal drugs, abused prescription and over-the-counter medications prohibited in the Word of Wisdom, a commandment regarding the health and well-being of our physical bodies. Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Spencer
Missions are not required, but strongly encouraged. For young men it is considered a "priesthood duty" to serve a mission. For young women it is a welcome option, but not a responsibility. Show more Show less

What is the Law of Chastity?

Spencer
The law of chastity is a law that guards the powers the Lord has given us to bring children in the world. The Lord commands that, before we are married, to not use them with anyone, when we are married, to use them with our spouse and nobody else, to avoid homosexual relationships, pornography, and masturbation. When we live the law of chastity we are promised happy family lives and have greater happiness, peace, and self-respect. Show more Show less
