Hi I'm Jessica

I'm 27 years old. I teach Spanish and Biology. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 27 years old, I'm the oldest of 6 children, and the only girl. I love my brothers! During high school, my main activity was...well, school. It ended up paying off though, when I was accepted to Stanford University. I graduated with a BA in Human Biology after taking time off to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I later decided to become a teacher, and got an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. I now teach Spanish and Biology at a private 6-12 school, and I love it! It's a ton of work, but I love it. I really enjoy going home every evening and feeling like I'm making a difference for good in the world. I love reading, exercise classes like Zumba, spending time with my family, baking, working (yeah, I like working), and...did I mention I love reading? :)

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but my parents are converts, so I've grown up with their testimonies of how life was before they had the Gospel and how much better it is now. In my younger days, I sometimes wondered if it were all true. But then one of my brothers was stillborn, so I needed to know for sure. I needed to know if there really is a life after this one, and if families can be together even beyond the grave. I turned to the scriptures for answers, and as I read them I was filled with such comfort and peace that I knew that what I was reading was true. That was the beginning of my testimony, and as I've continued to study the scriptures and the words of living prophets, and especially as I've applied those teachings in my life, I have come to know without a doubt that this is the Church of Jesus Christ, once again restored to the earth. I know the Book of Mormon is true, that Joseph Smith was the prophet who opened this era of the Church of Jesus Christ on the earth, and that Thomas S. Monson is a living prophet today, with the authority to speak what God would have us hear. I love this Gospel, and I thank God every day that I have it in my life. I don't know where I would be without it. It is everything to me.

How I live my faith

I attend what we call a Single's Ward, which is a congregation of single men and women between the ages of 18-30. I help select the hymns we sing in our Church meetings on Sunday, and I lead the music for the congregation. I am also in the process of forming a Christmas Choir.
