Hi I'm Derek

I'm a Husband, Father and an Athletic Trainer, and I'm LDS

About Me

I am currently working at a high school as an athletic trainer. I enjoy sports, and enjoying being around people, I enjoy helping those who I have a charge over physically and mentally. I have served a mission to Portugal and the Cape Verde Islands and greatly enjoyed serving the people of these two great humble and loving countries. I am currently married to a wonderful wife who blessed me with 4 great children.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church to the best parents in the world, who taught me the principles of the gospel but also taught me that I had to gain a testimony of my own of which I did and currently still have and are still adding to this testimony. I know the things that I have been taught are true, I have been able to gain that knowledge for myself through studying the scriptures and prayer that have been answered. I know the book of Mormon to be the word of God and that Joseph Smith was a true prophet that restored the Gospel on earth in these the latter days, I know that we are lead by a living prophet today, even Thomas S. Monson, and listening to his council and the council of the 12 we can and will return to our Father in Heaven. I know that we can and are forgiven of our sins through the gracious atonement of our older brother Jesus Christ. Probably the greatest knowledge is that I can be with my family forever, not till just death do us part. These things I know to be true.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving in the bishopric in my ward as the first counselor. I enjoy working with the members of the ward and helping them continue to strive to live the commandments of our Heavenly Father. I also am humbled by the members of the ward constantly teaching me the principles of the gospel through thier example and love for our Savior and his Father.
