Hi I'm Audrey

I'm a cookbook collector, I'm a family history addict, I'm a blogger, I'm a book lover, I'm a mother and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother of four small children. While I love my kids, I look forward to date night every week with my husband. I also love to create to-do lists (so I can stay organized and I love the power of crossing things off), cook (and eat), research my family tree (I helped my dad locate his biological parents just last year), I love to garden (even though the birds are thwarting my efforts) and I love to read (I'm a member of two book groups).

Why I am a Mormon

There is some special feeling that exists between family members. I think that feeling is why I wanted to have children and the same feeling is what draws me to do family history work as well. I want to draw my family near to me--whether they are living or not. I believe that these relationships we have with our spouse, children, grandparents, cousins, etc. were meant to exist past this earthly life. My church teaches that these relationships are eternal. I can be with these people I love forever. I do believe that families are forever. When I live what I have been taught, I am happy. When I have a question about some tenant of my faith, I try to figure it out. I love that I am encouraged to gain my own testimony of what we are taught. Nothing is to be accepted at face value, I can explore and examine until I find my own understanding of every part of my religion.

How I live my faith

I have served in several different positions in the church. Each position has brought new insight and growth for me. I love how serving people allows you to love them. I believe that the Savior could love us so completely because he constantly served those around him. I love that our church encourages family night each week. My kids look forward to it and it's a great way to have fun and teach my kids. Some nights we play board games together, other nights we have a lesson and eat a treat. Life is so busy, it's nice to have a night each week that is reserved for us to be together. When I am reading scriptures and saying prayers, I feel strengthened. What a strength it is to me to know that God is listening to my prayers and he knows and loves me even though I am imperfect. I am grateful for a church that has provided me with so many ways to feel loved and close to my Savior.
