Hi I'm Carlys

I grew up in the deep South and moved all over with the military and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was divorced 18 years ago and married a widower 13 years ago with 6 children. We have made a really good life together with our 8 children, one of which is handicapped. I worked outside the home until I retired 4 years ago. My life is now what I dreamed it would be when I dreamed of being a grandmother 40 years ago. I visit grandchildren in town and away. I help when babies are born, which is the joy of my life. I bake bread, I crochet, I can jams, and I sew. I do some gardening. And I love reading. I read a lot of preteen and teen books so I can talk with our teenage grandchildren and because I love those types of books. I came from a large family. I love having a large family now.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a testimony that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true. Heavenly Father has a plan for each of us and He loves each and every one of us, no matter how great or how humble the person may be. When I was 19 years old I listened to the missionaries teach about Joseph Smith and Heavenly Father's plan for families to be together forever. As I said before, I come from a large family and my connection to them has always been very strong and I wanted that connection to continue and include my husband and children. I knew I had found that connection when the missionaries presented The Plan of Happiness: Families can be sealed together for eternity. That piece of the puzzle has made me completely happy. Joseph Smith restored the gospel in this dispensation making it possible for The Plan of Happiness to be available to all of us. God and the Savior love us so much to give each of us what makes us so happy. I love Them so much.

How I live my faith

I try to be a good person and obey the commandments. I try to be a good neighbor and share what we have with them. I try to see the good in people and believe every person has good intentions. I try to take care of my responsibilities with church job assignments because I'm partnering with the Savior. Trying to be of service to others, especially our family, is the most important way I try to live my faith. In that way I hope to become more like the Savior in small things every day. As I have worked with women and young women over the years I have learned Heavenly Father loves us and we are His hands and we can find wonderful opportunities to feel His love and share His love every day by being of service.
