Hi I'm Reed

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 30 years old. I have a beautiful wife and a wonderful 4-year-old son. I graduated from Utah State University in 2006 with a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design. I spent the next few years in the video game and feature film industry. As a direct result of the poor economy, and over a year and a half looking for employment after two layoffs, I finally decided to go back to school and pursue my Master's Degree in Computer Science, with an emphasis in Software Development. I work full time at a cheese and yogurt processing plant to support my family while going to school. Life is busy, but I'm hoping that once school is done, my family and I will be in a more stable career field and will be able to spend more time together in a less stressful environment. I enjoy the "simple" life, spending time with family, watching movies, celebrating holidays, enjoying the outdoors and going on family vacations (especially to Disneyland).

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the LDS faith. My parents are both members and I had the great priviledge of learning the Gospel at an early age. I always felt I had a testimony of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ, but I truly received a powerful witness of my Savior while serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was an experience I cannot and will never deny, no matter how difficult life's circumstances become. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. It is God's truth. Christ is at it's head. There is a living Prophet. Revelation is real. The resurrection is real. The Priesthood is real. That is why I'm a Mormon. Because I have a true and strong testimony of the restored Gospel, and of Jesus Christ, the author.

How I live my faith

I was called by the Bishop of my ward to be in the Sunday School Presidency of the ward. I am the second counselor to the Sunday School President. My responsibilities include making sure that the Sunday School teachers have what they need to effectively teach the Gospel to the members of my ward. I typically teach a Sunday School class on the fourth Sunday of every month. We (the Sunday School Presidency) also spend four Sundays out of the year teaching a class to all of the teachers in our ward. We go over the importance of preparation, teaching true doctrines, and having the Holy Ghost in our classes so that the message of the Gospel is taught and heard by the power of the spirit. That is the way hearts are truly changed. I also serve as a Home Teacher in my ward. I am responsible for visiting 3 families who live in my ward boundaries. My companion and I try to visit these families at least once every month, sharing a Gospel message, asking how they're doing and if they need anything, and assisting them in any way we can. I try to be an example to my son by living the Gospel the best I can. And while I'm far from perfect, I feel it is important to do my best to show my family and others that we are the happiest as we live the Gospel, follow the example of our Savior, and serve others.
