Hi I'm Douglas

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm married have 2 adult sons from a previous marriage and my wife has an adult daughter between the three we have 6 grandchildren. I grew up in Orange County, California half way between the beach and Disneyland. I was the goalie for my high school water polo team also sang in 2 choirs in school. I enjoy reading and music (mostly country and classic rock) Currently I am a over the road truck driver delivering freight across this great country of ours.

Why I am a Mormon

In February 2002 my wife told me she wanted to check out a church that she believed that God has blessed. Thinking she was going to say a local Pentecostal church I asked which church she said the Mormon church with that I laughed and said it may be blessed but not of God. For the previous 20 years I read many books and listened to tapes speaking against the church and I had no interest in "Learning" anymore of this church. I My wife began to pray to meet a Mormon which shortly afterwards her prayers where answered. She meet a couple and their adult daughter at the restaurant she worked at and they became friends. When my wife visited the daughters house and saw pictures of Christ she ask what church she belonged to the answer was that she was LDS my wife's prayers where answered. We were then invited to learn of the church which I turned down. After a few weeks of my wife asking I finely gave in. We had our first meeting with the couple their daughter and 2 missionaries. At the end of the first meeting we where each given a book of Mormon with the promise to pray and read the book. My prayer was "Father I know this book is a lie please confirm it" we had our 2nd meeting and then planned a 3rd but half our group would not be there. The night of the 3rd meeting 1 of our cats went missing so we ended up canceling. a few days later we had our 3rd meeting but I was discussion within myself which turned into an argument with the Spirit I was there saying to myself "this cannot be true no way have I been wrong all these years. No, No I WILL NOT BELIEVE THE TEACHING OF THIS CHURCH IS TRUE! I then heard one of the Elders quote D&C 9 "But, behold, I say unto you, that you must study it out in your mind; then you must ask me if it be right, and if it is right I will cause that your bosom shall burn within you; With that I started to cry and softly said it's true, it's true, it's true, it's all true. Both my wife and I were baptized May 11, 2002

How I live my faith

Since becoming a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I have had a few callings. My first calling was as the Boy Scout Committee Chairman and at the same time I was an adviser to the Deacons. I served as a ward missionary going out with the Elders and talk with those interested in the church. I also served as the Sunday School President. Lately due to my job I have not been as active as I would like and have not had any callings but hope to be able to become active again soon. In the mean time I have been given an assignment to pray for members of our ward which I find rewarding.

Are Mormons Christians?

Douglas
If asked 10 years ago if Mormons where Christians I would have said no, since then I have found that members of the church believe that Jesus is the Saviour and Redeemer the Son of God and try to live life as Christ lived by honoring Heavenly Father and serving other. So, yes Mormons are Christians. Show more Show less
