Hi I'm Scott

I've lived in NY, IN, UT and South Korea. I love outdoor recreation like biking and rappelling. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I have been married for nearly 20 years and we have four beautiful children. I have an MBA and have worked in the medical services industry since 2003. Our family has a love for the world and we enjoy traveling to learn about other poeple, lands and cultures. I love outdoor recreation, like hiking, rappelling and biking. I've worked with youth groups for many years and enjoy taking them on adventures that help them to gain confidence, trust and have a great time.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church, but wasn't always interested in attending and being part of the family. As a youth I found myself in situations where I had to make some difficult decisions about who I was and what I wanted out of life. It took some time, but I learned that for me to be the person I wanted to be, I needed to seek the Lord's will. I needed to know the truth about the Church. I took the challenge to read the Book of Mormorn and prayerfully ask if it is the word of God. Based on that, and many other experiences, I came to have a solid faith in Christ and in the truthfullness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. That faith has sustained me through life's challenges and it has brough me and my family happiness that I know can come from no other source.

How I live my faith

I have served in most of the organizations in my wards, but most of my time has been with the youth. I enjoy helping the youth to gain experience and knowledge that will help them in their education, career, family and future church service. Shortly after graduating from college I moved to New York City. Having graduated with a degree in Korean, I wanted to attend the Korean branch in the city. However, I was single and wanted to be involved in a singles ward as well. As it turned out, the meeting times did not overlap, so I decided to go to both. I soon found myself will two callings in the Korean branch--Sunday School teacher and priesthood meeting instructor. In the singles ward I was soon called into the elders quorum presidency. Having just started a new job, these callings quickly became almost overwhelming. I say almost because I thoroughly enjoyed serving and I knew that the Lord would compensate for my inadequacies. I've learned that serving others is an outstanding way to show our love for Christ and to find happiness in life.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

As a Church member, I've never been pressured to vote for any political party. Rather, I've been encouraged to be active in the community and to vote for the candidates I think will best represent my values and be the best for my community and nation. Show more Show less

Who are the Mormons?

Mormons come from all walks of life, but we share a common belief in Christ as our Savior and in the restoration of Christ's church on the earth. Mormons are every-day people trying to improve themselves, their families and their communities. Mormons have a firm belief in Christ and believe in a loving God that still communicates with His children. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

For me it's been a blessing. Like most people, I love having a great time. However, I've found that I can to that through wholesome activities that don't require many of the subsitutes people often experiment with. By following the teachings of the Church I have been able to avoid many of the vices of the world and have enjoyed health and happiness that are more lasting. Although I've found success in my occupation, my fulfillment has come through my family and the service that I provide in the church and in the community. Show more Show less

What are Mormon Temples used for?

The temple has been a great blessing for me and my family. Because of ordinances and covenants of the temple I have learned more of what Christ wants for me and have been given the gift of a family relationship that will continue even after death. Show more Show less
