Hi I'm Valerie

I am a busy mom and I run an international business from home and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Arizona. I married a wonderful man and we just celebrated 32 years of marriage. I own my own business and I am a busy mom of 8. Even though it has been crazy at times I have stayed involved in my children's lives. This has allowed me to be their ball coach, scout leader, PTO board member and many other things. I love being the home where all their friends like to "hang out". I love being involved in so many ways that allow me to serve our community and make a difference in the world.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents had grown up in the Mormon faith but were more "Mormons by birth". We attended church on special holidays and that was about it. My mom had many Mormon friends that supported her and taught her and loved her just as she was. When I was 11 my sisters decided to attend a Mormon girl's camp. They had so much fun that I wanted to go the next year. I saved my money so I could go when I was 12. I don't remember all that happened there at camp but I do remember the feelings I had and I started to put the teachings to the test. I began reading the New Testament and the Book of Mormon and as I read I felt how much my Savior must have loved us all. A year later my parents divorced and I turned to the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ that I learned in those books of scriptures to help me through the tough emotional times. One day when I was reading the words of Christ, I had a strong desire to know if I truly mattered. If I was worth what the Savior did for me. I knelt and prayed and the feeling came so strong. I had known for a long time that the Savoir atoned for me, that I was a beloved daughter of God and that the Scriptures were a guide back to Him and specifically that the Book of Mormon was a second witness of our Savior. I had known and all I needed to do was to ask so that I could recieve a sure feeling of peace. I know God lives and I know He loves me. I know He hears and answers prayers and I know I can live with Him again with my family forever.

How I live my faith

I have been blessed with the knowledge that at all times in my life I can rely on the Spirit to bring peace to my busy life. I have always loved the hymns of the church and music is a big part of how we as a family worship and praise the Lord. I have learned to turn to the teachings of our Savior to help me through the trials that have inevitably come on my sojourn here on the earth. A few years back our house burned down while we were out of town. My younger children were home and had gotten out safely. I remember feeling helpless, distraught, scared...you name it. I can remember going to my hotel room and praying for guidance and when I stood up I could hear two scriptures in my mind. Psalms 138 vs 8 "The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me" and 2 Timothy 1 vs 7 "For God hath not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." The hymn, "How Firm a Foundation" came into my mind as well. I kept repeating those scriptures and singing that hymn many times over the next 5 years as we battled everything from insurance companies to contractors and even though the road wasn't easy, I know I didn't walk it alone. I knew my Savior knew every hurt and every disappointment and that He would buoy me up. I tried to always do my best and involve myself in worthy causes. I strive to be the mom and now grandma that the Lord entrusted my children to. I currently work with young girls 12-13 and we have activities every Wednesday and Sunday instruction every week. I love every minute of it and I love their enthusiasm but most of all I love watching them put the scriptures to work in their lives. I also work as a Visiting Teacher. I now realize that Visiting Teachers were my mom's friends that served her and loved her just as she was and I want to be that friend to others.
