Hi I'm Dannika

I love to sing. I love basketball. I'm studying to teach Special Education. I love adventures. I'm a missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 19 years old. I am currently serving a mission for the Church in Idaho. Before my mission, I attended school at ASU, studying to become a Special Ed. Teacher. When i have down time, i like to read books, listen to music, and just adventure. I am proud to say that i have checked skydiving off of my bucket list. I still have a lot to check off though. I played basketball and ran cross country in high school. I like to play the ukulele and sing. I enjoy any opportunity i get to sign American Sign Language. Oh yea, and someday I want to learn to fly a plane.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in the church, but I choose everyday to live what i know. I love the gospel because of the way it makes me feel. I may not have ever seen an angel or anything big, but nothing else in the world makes me feel the way I do when I live the truth. The happiness that comes with doing what I know is right is different than any other joy. I am a member of the Church because when I pray, I know someone is listening. I am a member of the Church because I have asked and i know that this is what God wants me to be doing. I am a member of the church because I know I am a daughter of God.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is an everyday task. When i go to school, i dress modestly and live my life in a way that represents the Savior. I like to carry packs of food in my car for the homeless who wait for food on the street. I enjoy going to the Bishop's Storehouse to serve those who are less fortunate as i gather groceries to be sent to those who cannot afford to pay in stores. Serving a mission for the Chruch, I love to share with others that they have a Father in heaven who loves them and a brother, Jesus Christ, who lived and died for them. And He lives today. I try to live my faith each day and live so that people know i am different, that i am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Mormon women are amazing. As members of the Church, we believe that women are equally as important as men. Women are devinely chosen to nurture and care for the children of the future. Some claim that women of the church are not valued as much as men because they don't get the priesthood. On the contrary, the leaders of are church are constantly speaking of the importance of women and the amazing role they play. Even in the Book of Mormon, there are several instances when the Lord shows his love for women by proclaiming his joy in the "sanctity of women". In the church, I have never felt left out or discriminated against because of my gender. I am constantly reminded of the love and gratitude for all that we do from the leaders of the Church. Women also have their own organizations such as the Relief Society and Young Women's Program that are directed to help women fulfill their divine potential. The women of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are never forgotten. Show more Show less
