Hi I'm Verna

I'm a Mormon. I grew up on a dairy farm in Star Valley Wyo., where I learned to value family, work and service at an early age.

About Me

I am a wife, mom, grandma and homemaker. I enjoy spending time with my husband, cooking, reading, puzzles, nature and visiting new places. Spending time with my family brings me great joy. Sometimes I'm competitive and like to tease, especially my grand kids. I like to make them laugh. Watching my family grow and develop brings me true happiness. Maintaining and strengthening those relationships are very important to me. I live in the pacific northwest. It's beauty and wildlife nourish my soul. Some of the places I have visited are parts of the east coast, and Canada, Egypt, Israel and Mexico. A trip of a lifetime was flying with my husband and other family members to Germany and Switzerland for a family reunion, meeting cousins for the first time and visiting the family homes and villages of my ancestors.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a strong Latter-day Saint home. My mother was a convert as were my grandparents both paternal and maternal who left family and homelands immigrating to America because of their new found religion. They lived faithful lives through much adversity. I continue to be an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and strive to live the gospel principles that it teaches. I have found and continue to believe that living these principles to the best of our ability continues to bless me and my family's life with richness and happiness. As we remain true to who we are and what we believe is right, it helps us to bypass so many problems and sorrows of the world; unites and strengthens our family through difficult times and helps to maintain loving and safe homes in an ever increasing violent and deteriorating society.

How I live my faith

Both my family and church continue to encourage a strong work and service ethic. We have a lifelong pursuit of helping those around us and we look for ways to help strengthen our family, church, and community. It has been enjoyable serving as both a hospital and a school room volunteer. In our church, I have had the opportunity to serve in leadership and teaching positions at different times for various groups of women and youth. It has been fun working with youth from ages 18 months to 18 years. These experiences included organizing activities for large and small groups and teaching and speaking about the Savior, improving our life skills, sharing compassionate service, and just being a friend during fun times, but also during difficult times of illness, and death.
