Hi I'm Austin

I grew up in Austin, attended BYU-Hawaii and the University of Texas, served a mission in Colorado. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Austin, TX, in a wonderful family with parents who were both converts to the faith. We weren't always active in the Church, but I feel that having been on both sides helps me see the blessings of living a gospel-centered life and truly appreciate everything the Church is to me. I had the opportunity to serve a church mission in Colorado. It was the most amazing experience of my life. I've never learned more about the Savior nor felt closer to Him. Since coming home, I've attended college at the University of Texas, started a baseball blog that's part of an ESPN network of blogs, and found joy serving in a number of different callings.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the Church but had to come to a knowledge of the truth on my own. It was amazing for me to see, as I investigated the Church's teachings, how they fell completely in line with ideas and impressions I had come to on my own. But coming to a logical understanding of the gospel is not enough to make a lasting impression and the comfort and joy you find in a sure knowledge of the truth. I tested the word, studied the teachings in the Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants alongside the Bible, prayed about these things and have found them to be true over and over again. Every time I reach out to my Heavenly Father in prayer I'm reminded that these things are true because I have found the peace and joy of a testimony of the living gospel and the Savior Jesus Christ. I have found the truth as I've learned, taught, served my fellow man and worked in the temple. It's amazing to see the consistency of the Old Testament and New Testament teachings carried out through prophets and apostles today. I love the knowledge that God still calls these important people to serve, showing us that He really is the same yesterday, today and forever.

How I live my faith

I have served in many callings in the church, but currently I am the Sunday School President in my young single adult ward, which includes teaching Sunday School. I've never found any calling more fulfilling than teaching. I love the opportunity to share my testimony and to dedicate so much of my time to study of the Gospel. I home teach a number of wonderful people in my ward, giving me the opportunity to carry important gospel messages into their homes and ensure all of their spiritual and temporal needs are met.
