Hi I'm Erik

I grew up in Seattle. I am a traffic engineer. I like sports. I am married with a daughter and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work for a city as a traffic engineer, mostly retiming traffic signals. I am married to a wonderful wife and we have a daughter who was born in 2011. My daughter is the greatest blessing to my life. I enjoy playing and watching sports of all kinds in my free time. I especially enjoy playing basketball, tennis, raquetball, softball and golf. I also like to read, mostly non-fiction books about historical events or current affairs, which works out well since my wife is a librarian.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a home where my mom was Mormon and my dad was not. I attended church every Sunday with my mom while growing up. When I went to college I decided to figure out if going to the Mormon church was right for me. I had some great Mormon friends that were great examples to me and showed me that living the gospel of Jesus Christ really brought happiness. Because of their examples I decided that actively participating at church and living the gospel of Jesus Christ was something I needed in my life. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. We can find true happiness in life from following the commandments of God. The Bible and the Book of Mormon are the word of God and we can learn what we need to do in life from reading the scriptures.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day of the week. Being a Mormon isn't just going to church on Sunday. Family is important to me. My family has daily prayers together and we try and have some time devoted towards family time on each day. I always have coworkers ask me why I don't drink alcohol or coffee and why I don't swear. Once they know, they have always been very respectful of who I am. My family recently moved into a new congregation. I participate in our congregation by teaching a Sunday School class once a month. This class focuses on the basic beliefs of our church and is for people looking into our church and the newly baptized members of our church. I also visit two families I am assigned to monthly to make sure that everything is okay with them and if they need help in any way.
