Hi I'm Elder PenDell

I'm an Australian-American who speaks Portguese and lives in Brasil, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have two wonderful loving parents, and I am the oldest of five children. My mother is from Australia and I spent six months of my life living away from my family in Australia. I am serving a full-time mission in Campinas, Brazil. My love for Brasil and it's people and culture is only matched by my love for my family, this gospel, and my Savior Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the Church, and I have the most amazing parents in the world. They taught me of the gospel often, and from the time I was very little I knew many of the stories in the scriptures very well. They have been a huge influence in my life and I am so grateful for that. The time eventually came, however, when I had to know for myself if it was true. I lived with my aunt and uncle for six months and neither of them were members. While I was there I began to realize I didn't have a testimony of my own and that I'd been relying upon my parents'. After I returned home I read through the Book of Mormon for myself for the first time and I prayed about it. As I applied its teachings I became a better person. I came to love those around me and I began to feel the Holy Spirit in ways I never had before. I came to know it was true for myself. The Spirit witnessed of its turthfulness to me. As I continued to study the gospel my testimony grew even stronger. A burning desire to serve a mission and share the gospel's glorious message to my brothers and sisters the world over filled my heart. And now, about five years after I took that important decision and read the Book of Mormon for myself, I am serving a mission. I am currently serving in the Brasil Campinas mission, helping the wonderful people of Brasil to take these same important steps for themselves, so that they too can know of the truth of this Gospel. Everything that is good in my life is a result of this Gospel. I love it. When I need help, I can pray, and the Lord always hears and answers. I know that because of this Gospel, I came be a better person every day, and become more like my Heavenly Father. I love this. I love this Gospel. I love Brasil. And, above all, I love my Savior Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

My faith is something incredibly precious to me - it has seen me through the best and worst moments of my life. It is always a source of extreme strength and happiness to me. The knowledge that I have of this Gospel motivates me to press on every day, and to share what I know with the largest number of people possible. My faith in Jesus Christ and his Restored Gospel has brought me so much joy that I want everyone to have the chance to experience it, like I do.
