Hi I'm George

I've been a member since 1964. Grew up in Canada, settled in Washington. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been happily married for 61 years, and am proud to be a father of 5, with 27 grandchildren and 32 greatgrandchildren (and it doesn't hurt). I love spending time with everyone in my family, planting dahlias and doing my genealogy. I come from Ontario, Canada and served in the Canadian Army during the Korean War. After that I met my wife in the State of Washington, and settled in America. I worked in construction for 48 years, and helped build the Tacoma Mall. Now I'm retired and at the mercy of my wife and 3 dachsunds.

Why I am a Mormon

All my time growing up, I've had to search for the truth in religion. I attended 4 or 5 churches and found some truths, but there was always something missing. Then one day my family and I were invited to a neighbor's home to watch some movies at a family home evening. To our surprise we met 2 young men who were missionaries serving the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My family fit right in with the group, and we were introduced quickly to the 2 young men who shared a message. They began to show the film strip "Meet the Mormons," and the machine broke. I was so engrossed in the Church's message that I wanted more and more. It just so happened I had purchased a new stereo and record player that day, and we used that to finish hearing the message. They asked if they could visit my family again and I said they could come over tomorrow, and the rest is history.

How I live my faith

Every day I try to live as Christlike as I can. I set the best example I can to my family and friends. I was the young men's president for my congregation, I've worked in the temple and served a mission with my wife at Deseret Industries where we helped train handicapped to enter the workforce and with shipping goods. I also helped found the Norwest Soccer League in Tacoma, giving high schoolers a chance to learn the game.
