Hi I'm Rick

I'm a Mormon. I love nature, fruit trees, running, helping others, being an attorney, my family and God's Plan of Happiness for us

About Me

I enjoy nature, being outdoors and growing things. I grow vegetable gardens and fruit trees, run marathons, swim/bike/run triathlons, fish and enjoy the outdoors. I especially love fruit trees because they are beautiful and produce shade, wood, oxygen and delicious fruit. I have planted over 200 varieties of fruiting trees and plants. My family's favorite places to go are the ocean and mountains. When I am in nature and see the sun, sky, mountains, ocean, river and trees, I feel at peace. Most of all, I love my family and friends. My family is my greatest source of joy, and friends can also be a great blessing. One of my favorite sayings: You have to be a little crazy or you will go nuts.

Why I am a Mormon

I enjoy nature, trees, gardens, mountains, sky, rivers and oceans because they are God-made. Man-made creations simply do not compare. I am grateful for a Father in Heaven who provides such beauty and support for us. It is the same with spiritual things. Despite life's real challenges, He has not left us without spiritual beauty and truth. Though sometimes the answers are difficult to find, He promises, "ask, and ye shall receive." I have found that to be true. I know /god answers prayers, though sometimes it takes awhile or is not the answer we want. It is easy to think all churches are the same and all that matters is that you live a good life. But once you study, pray about and try the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ as taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, you will feel differently. It helps me live a better life than I could without it. It provides guidance, truth, understanding and sacred ordinances through which God's power blesses us. Most of all, the Church, the Book of Mormon, the Bible and modern-day prophets lead me to Christ and changed me for the better. Jesus is the center and focus of it all. Some people wonder if Mormons are Christians. I understand they might think this because we claim there is additional light and truth in the Mormon Church. The Church does not contradict the truth you already have. Instead, the Church adds to it. Bring all the truth you have and find even more of it in the Mormon Church. You will be blessed with the additional beauty and truth God has provided. If someone "learns" about the Mormon Church from its detractors, they have not studied the Mormon Church. The only way to really learn what someone believes is to go to the source itself and ask them, not someone else. As an attorney, I know there are many ideas out there. It is easy to be skeptical. But there is a Church that provides the answers you are seeking and will lead you even closer to Jesus Christ. Try it. You will like it.

How I live my faith

I love helping people. Once you have felt God's love in your life, you want to share that love with others. Because God has changed me for the better and given me His love, I want to do the same with others. One of the things I most enjoy about being an attorney is serving my clients. It is a sacred honor to share the Savior's titles of advocate, counselor, mediator and judge. I also serve both within and outside my church. One of the great things about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is that everyone has an opportunity to serve others. We look after each other and help each other. We are very close because of it. There is something for everyone, no matter your age, gender, economic level, education, personality, etc. As a parent, I especially appreciate what the Church does for my children. Weekly youth night, Sunday lessons from loving and inspiring teachers, good friends with high standards, etc. help my children greatly.
