Hi I'm Austen

I love triathlons and I'm studying to become a surgeon. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an undergraduate student getting ready to apply to dental school. After dental school I would love to continue on to a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Next summer I will have my first half Ironman triathlon and look forward to seeing how it turns out.

Why I am a Mormon

All of the grandparents are converts to the Church which, consequently, lead to my parents and our family being members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as well. I was baptized when I was eight years old and served a proselyting mission to the Dominican Republic at the age of ninteen. On different occassions I have been asked how I know the Church is true - in other words: why are you a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints? I have no one-time event that has been the turning point in determining my position on whether or not I would continue of my own accord to be a member of the Church. I have never doubted the gospel at any point in my life and am grateful to have been taught line upon line, brick by brick, by others who knew the gospel to be true. For me, it was not a large or spectacular event; I am a member because of the sweet peace that has come time and time again from receiving truths from the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by service. I find there is great satisfaction in providing for a need of another - whatever that need may be.
