Hi I'm Gary

I am a newlywed of 4 years, semi retired father of three, grandfather of 6 and I'm a morman!

About Me

I'm a family man. My wife and I have been married 4 years. We have 9 children from 30 to 44 years of age. She has 5 girls and 1 boy and I have 2 boys and 1 girl. Altogether we have 22 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons. I have spent my life as a residential contractor. I still enjoy small construction projects that have a beginning and an end. I like to line dance year around and in the summer I LOVE to water ski. I especially enjoy skiing with the family. I like to mow with my 1949 Ford tractor and cruise around in my 1960 Falcon Ranchero, that I enjoyed rebuilding. I am active in church and love working with the members and getting to know them better.

Why I am a Mormon

One Saturday morning in July of 2006, I was at home and the doorbell rang. I opened the door to find 2 young men in dark suits. They introduced themselves as missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They ask if they could talk a little about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As we talked I noticed a glow on their faces that I found quite interesting. I wondered what it was I was seeng. They asked to come in, so I invited them in and we talked. They gave me something to read and asked to come back in a week. As they taught and I read the scriptures, it all made so much since to me. These 2 young men gave me answers to questions that I had had for years. I had some habits in my life that I needed to change more than I might have thought, so it was nearly 9 months before I was baptized. I was baptized in April of 2007 and I attend the church in Warsaw. Indiana. My life before joining the church was good and I was basically happy. But I now feel an inner happiness and peace knowing that my Heavenly Father knows, loves and wants only the best for me.

How I live my faith

The Savior spent his life here on earth, in the service of others. We are to follow his example and this is what I try to do. I serve others whenever and however I can. My wife and I try to keep the Sabboth day holy, so what used to be normal activities on Sunday are no longer. Interestingly enough, they are not even missed.   I have also found out that many of the things that I spent money and time on, things that were so important to me, have amazingly taken a back seat to my church and family. I enjoy doing the things, that I am asked to do for church, to the best of my ability. Each Sunday I learn more about the Savior and His gospel. I look forward to serving a mission with my wife as my companion.
