Hi I'm Jenessa

I'm a student at Brigham Young University. I love to be outdoors, explore new things, and to eat treats! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm fascinated with everything and everyone around me, and therefore I love to travel! I've been to several states in the United States, Canada, and Peru, and after graduating from college I plan to travel the rest of the world. I'm currently studying business at Brigham Young University, and hope to use this career as a means for helping those less fortunate that me. I am the only girl in the middle of four brothers who mean the world to me. I played volleyball and softball while growing up, but I love watching football, baseball, and basketball. I love to laugh. My ultimate goal in life, is to make everyone happy!

Why I am a Mormon

In February 2013, I found myself in a very challenging situation. My "life plan" was not going the way that I wanted, and I was facing some serious health issues that I learned would only be getting worse the older I got. For weeks I only wanted to be alone, I yelled at everyone who tried talking to me, and I was mean to those who loved me the most. I had never felt so alone in my entire life, yet I was mad at God and didn't know where to turn. At one point, I noticed a small picture of Christ that I had hanging on my wall. While staring at Him, I heard the words "I'm here" come into my mind. I immediately dropped to my knees, and not knowing what to say, I just closed my eyes. Images of Christ on the cross raced through my head, and I began to cry as I realized that He knew exactly what I was going through, and that He had been near me the entire time, yet I had been choosing to exclude Him from my life. I started thinking about the last few months, and I was amazed at how much love and support Heavenly Father and Christ had tried offering me, yet I was blinded in seeing these as blessings. They had sent neighbors, loved ones, and perfect strangers, who comforted me in ways that I didn't know I needed until after the fact. They sent me to doctors who were able to find answers that were heartbreaking but necessary. They taught me things that no one else could have known I needed. Most of all, they showed me that they loved me through various people, magazines, movies, etc. I am a Mormon, because I know that we have a loving Heavenly Father who is mindful of our needs. He may seem distant at times, but it's only because we are failing to allow His helping hand. I know that He loves you, and I know that He would do anything to make you happy.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be a friend to everyone that I come in contact with. We all experience curve balls in life, and often I get caught up in how unfair my journey is. When I stop to look at those around me, I realize that my life is no worse than my neighbors, my co-workers, etc. Therefore, I try to be the friend to others, that Christ would be to me if He were here.
