Hi I'm Jamie

I'm a stay at home mom. I spend my time chasing kids and managing my daughter's diabetes. I craft and love fiction. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

First and foremost I am a wife and mother. My husband and I have been married for ten years and have two beautiful daughters at the ages of two and four. Our four year old has Type 1 Diabetes. I do for her what her pancreas cannot. I manage her diabetes through a strict regimen of carb counting, measuring blood sugar 8-10 times a day, several insulin injections, and a lot of prayer. Anybody that knows me will tell you how much I love fiction and fantasy. I have always had quite the imagination. If it has superheros, comic book legends, wizards, centaurs, or characters from worlds far far away, I'm in! Of course my all time favorites include Star Wars, but don't ask me to choose which is my favorite. I can never decide. I love big family get togethers. The louder and more chaotic the better. I find party planning to be especially fun. I'm always on the hunt for the new greatest recipe, I'm a novice sewer working on my craft, and I have recently found a new passion for cake decorating.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have a strong testimony of my savior, Jesus Christ. I know that he lives and that he atoned for my sins. I also know that the Book of Mormon as well as the New and Old Testaments of the Holy Bible are the word of God. Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and he restored Christ's church here on earth. President Thomas S. Monson leads this church today and is a prophet, seer, and revelator. I know these truths because the Holy Ghost confirms them to me. I cannot deny the feeling I get when I read the scriptures, or when I take the weekly sacrament, or when I hear my four year old say her prayers on bended knee. I am a member of this church because I know that it is true and because it has blessed my life in so many ways.

How I live my faith

My family and I regularly attend our weekly church meetings. I find it important to set a good example for my girls. My current calling is in the nursery. I watch children between the ages of eighteen months to three years old while their parents attend Sunday School and various other church meetings. I love this calling. Small children have such a strong light of Christ. They just came from our Heavenly Father's presence and because of that it is so easy to feel their sweet spirit. I also try to stay actively involved with other members of my ward. I serve on the activities committee for the women's organization of the church. This is where we plan monthly get togethers that are both enjoyable and have a strong spiritual message shared. I also visit teach a few fellow sisters in my ward. I go to their homes and while we visit I share a monthly message geared specially for them as a daughter of God. In return I have visiting teachers as well that check in on me monthly and are there for me whenever I need something. I love the culture of this church. My ward is my second family. We all take care of each other as well as reach out to those in need in the community. If ever I am in need, I always have someone to turn to for both my temporal and spiritual needs.
