Hi I'm John

I grew up in Southern California, I am married, have three kids, three birds and a dog. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My hobby is grilling in the backyard. I love meeting people and having friends over for a barbecue. I enjoy road trips with my family, the outdoors and the beach I am a handyman of sorts and have remodeled 2 homes. I enjoy working with my hands and will always lend a hand to my neighbors or friends. My name is John and I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

My wife and her two kids were members when we married, but I never committed to converting. I grew up Baptist, and was grounded in a firm belief in God. I had some questions that were not answered and for a long time, I left them unanswered. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints had wonderful programs for children, and my member step-kids were very active in the Church. They gave talks in Church and they sang in Church. So on Sunday’s when they on the program I would attend to listen to them. I would only go if they were doing something in Church. Well that’s not entirely true, I also went to activities like the Father and Son Campouts, Easter program, and Christmas program. I found myself enjoying every minute I was in Church or participating in a program. I even obtained my Ham radio license thru the Church and became a part of our emergency preparedness team. Eventually, I saw this as a daily faith, not a Sunday event. One day I surprised my wife and told her that I wanted to be baptized and three years ago my member step-son baptized me. My Mom and Dad came to my Baptism; they couldn’t believe how many people attended my Baptism. I have never looked back and never regretted my decision, other than marrying my wife it was the best decision I ever made.

How I live my faith

Idle hands are the devil’s workshop. Those hands didn’t belong to a Mormon! I teach a Sunday school class for those who have recently converted and been baptized. It is a wonderful opportunity for me to share the teachings of Jesus Christ with others. The research involved in setting up the weekly curriculum helps me to learn and understand. I am also a home teacher for some members in our congregation. I get a chance to assist those who need help. My desire to live my faith everyday has been realized.
