Hi I'm Mark

I love the Grand Canyon State (Arizona, USA) where I live with my wife and three children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a Husband and Father and consider time with my family my greatest treasure. I love the outdoors, especially hiking and backpacking around our great state. I love the hope that each new day brings to me as an opportunity to live another day on this beautiful earth.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when I was a three years old. I was baptized at age 8 and had the privilege of living in a number of small congregations as we moved around the world with my father's service in the United States Air Force. I learned about the Prophet Joseph Smith and his visitation by God, our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ while I was attending Primary in our little congregation in Kansas. The first time I learned of this account, I knew in my heart that it was true. As I read and studied the Book of Mormon, my testimony of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ continued to be strengthened. As a missionary for the Church serving in Colorado, I witnessed the real joy that comes to all those who accept the Gospel of Jesus Christ and follow the Savior in their lives. Married less than 5 years, we had a significant test of faith. Our first born child died of a sudden illness at the age of three. My wife was especially hurt by the loss of this wonderful child she had grown to love so much as she nurtured him since birth. Over time, we came to understand that his short life was part of our Heavenly Father's plan of happiness. We never know how long we will live on this earth so it's important that we live our lives in harmony with the teachings of our Savior. Our Heavenly Father's plan is perfect and provides an opportunity for each of us to reach our full potential as his sons and daughters.

How I live my faith

I strive to be a good example and follower of Jesus Christ in my home, with my neighbors, and with my associates at work. As a father and holder of the Priesthood, I have the great responsibility and privilege of leading my family to do those things that we've been asked to do by a Living Prophet of God like offering regular prayers and teaching our children how to live their lives in harmony with the teachings of Jesus Christ. I serve as a Home Teacher in the Church with my son serving as my companion. We visit two widows, a single man, and another couple each month where we deliever Gospel messages and look after other needs they may have in their lives. I also work with our young men in the Boy Scouting program with the responsibility of running our Scout committee. It's a great opportunity to be involved with young men as they develop skills and have experiences to develop their character as husbands, fathers, and citizens.
