Hi I'm Marc

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I teach math at a university and I am also an administrator. Prior to what I do now, I served in the Coast Guard for 27 years. My wife and I have been married over 35 years and have six kids and six grandchildren. Our family has lived in California, Louisiana, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Oklahoma, Hawaii, Washington, and now Utah.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents, sister, and I went to a Congregational church in Seattle. When I was five we moved across town but continued to be active in the Congregational church. However, when I was about 10 we changed to a nearby Presbyterian Church. I remember thinking that it did not seem right to change churches just because one was more convenient to attend. I had this feeling that there should be a true church. My parents knew a few Mormons and perhaps they sensed the same thing that I did. My parents started asking questions and eventually the missionaries came to our house and began teaching us. I remember the missionaries telling me about the Book of Mormon and I just sensed that what they were saying was true. I was baptized when I was 12. I have been an active member ever sense and it has brought me and my family tremendous joy over the years. I believe in the Plan of Salvation and the answers is gives to the questions: Why am I here? Where did I come from? and Where am I going?

How I live my faith

As a lay Church, the members all chip in and help each other. I have had wonderful opportunities to help others and have mostly worked with being a leader and teacher of teenagers and young adults.
