Hi I'm James

I am an electricians apprentice. I like to fix cars, ride quads, shoot guns, hunt, and play with my dogs. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I, like most people spend most of my time at work or school. But when I am not working I really enjoy spending time with my family. My wife and two girls are the biggest blessing I could ask for. Together we enjoy spending time in nature, working in the yard, and playing with our three dogs. My oldest daughter is a baby dare devil, she loves to ride on the quad with me and is working on riding her own. We are a fairly young family, and we enjoy spending time fixing up our first home. We have big plans for the future together. But are still having fun with what we have. When we are all done playing for the day we love to sit back as a family and watch tv and movies together.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I grew up going every sunday with the rest of my family. But I don't know that I really did more than just attend meetings until I reached my early twenties. In fact I stopped going for a couple years after highschool. But when I started going again I had the opportunity to figure out for myself what it was all about. I started attending a branch that was just for young single adults. At first I was just going to meet people my own age and have some fun. But as I attended meetings I got to hear, for the first time, people my own age talk about what they believed and why. Up to this point I had heard many "old" people talk about the gospel. But I never really listened to them. I guess I didn't feel like they understood what I was going through. But as I listened to my friends talk about their faith in Jesus Christ and what it meant to them I decided that I had better find out for myself. For the first time I actually paid attention in class and over the next year or so I developed a testimony for myself. When I was 22 I decided that I needed to share this with others and went on a mission to michigan. There I had the opportunity to not only learn more about my own religion, but also about the many other religions of the world. As I discussed the gospel of Jesus Christ with others I found that we had many similar beliefs. Most of them also believed in Jesus Christ and his ministry, they believed in the words of the bible and what they meant to our lives. And most even had the same kind of moral principals that we do. But the one thing that I found that we didn't share was that I believe that god wouldn't stop talking to us through prophets as he did through out the bible. I believe whole heartedly that our church president Thomas S. Monson is that prophet today. By applying what he and the twelve appostles teach us we can get closer to Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

In my time as a member of this church I have had many opportunities to serve and live my faith. I have participated in many callings in the church. I have been a teacher, I have been a youth leader, I have helped plan activities as the head of the activities committee. I was even fortunate enough to be the DJ for the young single adult monthly dances for about a year. That was really fun being able to help others have the opportunity to meet people in a place that was both fun and still a place where we knew we wouldn't have to sacrafice our morals for the sake of others. And I was able to serve a fulltime mission for two years in Michigan.
