Hi I'm Rob Curtis

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am in my mid fifties, married and have two daughters currently in college. Since my graduation from college in Electrical Engineering I have been with the same aerospace company for twenty-six years. I have been the scout master of my local church congregation for the past 5 years for the 12 - 14 year old boys. I enjoy the scouting program and all the activities involved. When I have time I enjoy wood working and traveling to visit family. I love to learn new practical skills that help be be self sufficient and enable me to help others in need.

Why I am a Mormon

Both sides of my family are 4 generation Mormons. I was raised in the Mormon church and was active in attending throughout my life. I always agreed with the teachings that I received at church and though my own personal spiritual experiences my belief in the Mormon church was reinforced. My testimony of the church was put to the test when I choose to serve a two year mission for the Mormon church and was sent to England. During my time as a missionary I was exposed to many other beliefs and was challenged almost daily on mine. I learned to respect and love the people of England independent of their interest or acceptance in my message. I was able to teach families and individuals about the gospel during my time on my mission. I witnessed the miracles required for someone to change their life, not through any special talents I had as a missionary, but through their own inquiries through prayer about the truthfulness of the message I was sharing and the answers to those prayers.

How I live my faith

Being a Mormon doesn't grant my any special privilege to avoid the trails, pains, and disappointments we all have. I do not believe that my faith makes me any more loved by Heavenly Father than others. I do have a unique perspective on why I am here on Earth and what I was sent to accomplish. I know I am here to learn to be more like my Heavenly Father. I love Jesus Christ I know that he suffered for the sins of all mankind and do my best to improve my life daily. I am thankful for the gift of repentance and the chance I am given to realign my life in accordance to Gods laws when I stumble. Because of my knowledge of Jesus Christ and his example I know that happiness only comes in this life through service to one another. I enjoy the service opportunities I an given through church participation. Those service opportunities through church have been diverse. Examples include Boy Scouting, community service projects, food bank charitable work, Sunday school teaching, and too many others to list here. The real point to service is to have that attitude ingrained into your life and develop a Godly attribute. My future plans once I can retire is to continue service opportunities by serving another full time missions with my wife.
