Hi I'm Sara

I worked for several years in the medical field, but now I am a stay at home mom. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

After graduating from college I married my best friend. I worked in the medical field while my husband attended graduate school and until our first child was born. We tried to get pregnant for five years, and we were finally blessed with a little boy. The doctors told us this would probably be the only child we would be able to have, so we were amazed that we had two little girls join our family over the following few years. Now as a full time stay at home mom, I get to spend time learning along with my children while enjoying some of my other hobbies as well. I love to read, sing, dance, teach, make jokes, go on nature walks, try new recipes, eat new foods, watch tv and movies, and play board games.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family already practicing the Mormon faith. Once I was on my own, I had to figure out how committed I was to this church and what I really believed. I think my real conversion occurred once I really put significant time and work into studying the gospel. About the age of 26, I was asked to teach an early morning scripture study class (Seminary) for high school students. The topic of study for the year was the Book of Mormon. I had read the Book of Mormon before and studied it in classes, however that year teaching from it gave me the opportunity to really love it and know it. I taught two more years of Seminary and covered the Old Testament and The Doctrine and Covenants/Pearl of Great Price. I can now say I love the scriptures, and that truly the word of God is found in them. I understand them well enough to find answers to life's problems there. It took work to get to that point and also overcoming fear. What if I found out that the church I grew up in wasn't the right church? I know that God knew of the fears and taught me the truth, by allowing me to learn through teaching. He knows us better than we know ourselves!

How I live my faith

Right now my main church assignment is to organize athletic events for the young women of our church ages 12-18. This has been a very fun assignment as I have been able to organize basketball and volleyball leagues this year and next year will try out an indoor soccer league, as well. The focus is on having fun, not on winning, so we try to help the young women have a great experience no matter what the score is.
