Hi I'm Cam

I'm a wife. I'm a sister. I'm a daughter. I'm a teacher. I'm a convert. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated last May from college with a degree in Elementary Education. I now teach 5th grade and LOVE IT!! I love getting to spend the day with kids and seeing those light bulb moments. I have been married for just over a year to my wonderful husband, Josh. We love watching movies, playing games, and hanging out with friends. My hobbies include crafts, playing wii and xbox, and playing the piano. I joined the church in October of 2008 and it was the best decision I have ever made. I love going to church and learning more about the gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I first heard about the Church from a friend when I started college. Before this time, I had never heard much about the Church. All of the people I met at the Institute were so different from anyone else I had ever met. I got to know more people and started taking the Missionary lessons. I took the lessons for about six months when I knew I needed to pray and find out, for myself, if this church was true. It was the night before Easter at about 10 pm when I started to pray. I knew I was finally praying with real intent and I told myself that I was not going to stop praying until I got an answer. I prayed for about 2 hours and had started listing things I knew were true. "I know I love my family loves me and that I love my family, I know there is a God, I know..." Then I froze and knew in my heart and my head. I KNOW THIS CHURCH IS TRUE!! It was such an amazing feeling and I wanted to shout it from the rooftops. I was baptized the following October and have never regretted it. It was not an easy decision to go against my parents wishes, but I am so grateful that they have come to accept my decision. I know this decision was for me and was 100% right. Being a Mormon, has brought out the best in me. I love going to church, going to relief society activities, attending institute classes, listening to General Conference, and sharing the Gospel with anyone who is willing to listen. I know that this Church is true and I am so grateful for the process that I went through to know this truth. I love my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and am eternally grateful for Joseph Smith's first prayer and the courage that he had to believe in that prayer. I know that the one and only True Church is on the Earth today. I am so blessed to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday in all that I do. I live my faith through sharing the Gospel with those around me. I live my faith through living by the Word of Wisedom. I live my faith by listening to and following the words of the Prophet and the promptings of the Holy Ghost. I live my faith through my calling as a Ward Missionary. I live my faith through my love and appreciation for Relief Society and my participation in that wonderful organization. I live my faith through all I do and say. I live my faith everyday in all that I do!

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Cam
Attending the temple is a special blessing for worthy members . Members must prepare and be found worthy in order to attend the temple. States/countries may have multiple temples, one temple, or no temples. Attending the temple is a special opportunity to receive special ordinances and instruction. The temple is also where worthy members are sealed to their spouse and family for all of time and eternity. The temple is a very sacred place. Show more Show less

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Cam
Tithing, or donating 10%, is a commandment that all members of the Church are asked to live. TIthing is giving back a portion of our income, not as a burden, but an opportunity to show our faith. Heavenly Father has given us many blessings that we are thankful for. An easy way to look at tithing is the following: God gives you an orange tree, so you give him an orange. God gives you orange juice from your orange. You give God some of the juice and he gives you orange sherbet. And so on and so. Heavenly Father will always give us blessings as long as we have faith in him. Show more Show less
