Hi I'm Kathryn

I love to sing. I play violin. I perform on the piano. I'm in drama club. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am in Concert Choir at school. The teacher says it is the second hardest choir. I love it! I play the piano and violin. I've played the piano for 8years (aproximately) and the violin for 5 years.I am 4th chair in Orchestra. I know how to play the guitar. I don't compose music, but I am an excelent copy cat! I just love the feeling of beautiful music flowing through me. One of my favorite songs is "Time in a Bottle" by Jim Croce. I was on the lighting crew for my school's fall play and spring musical, and construction crew for the winter play. I love cats, and I had 2: Luke and Leia, until recently. Now we only have Leia. Yes, I am a Star Wars fan. That and Star Trek the Next Generation are some of the sci-fi movies I like. If I had to have a dog I would have a husky. I want to live in either Alaska or Scotland or somewhere with rain and/or snow. I love to watch movies, and some of my favorites are Ever After and Quest for Camelot (to name a few). I also like The Lord of the Rings. And I have an unhealthy relationship with sugar :-) My favorite TV show is Avatar:The Last Airbender and my favorite books are Edenbrooke and Ranger's Apprentice. I like to play church volleyball and basketball. A fun fact about me is that I like to grocery shop more than I like to clothes shop. And one thing I really want to do before I die is go through a drive-through on foot!

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a member of the LDS church? I was baptized when I was eight and I guess I didn't know any other things to do. Both my parents are Mormon and all of my siblings are too. I didn't feel forced to join, I just didn't know what else to do. But now, years later, I look back and am so glad I joined. The gospel has guided me in my life in ways I don't even know. Just recently, someone I knew passed away. It was very difficult for me to look on the side and see the family cope. But when I expected them to be torn up and raw, they were strong and courageous. How wonderful it is that they and I have the knowledge of the Plan of Salvation. It makes it so much easier to deal with death, knowing that we will all be together again. I think the gospel helps me think differently than others beacuse I look at life differently. At times, I feel the Spirit testify to me of the Savior and his atoning sacrifice. It's incredible to me how he has enough love for me to die for me. This thought helps guide my actions; I think how the more righteous I am, the less pain I'm causing Him and the more happy and proud I am making Him of me. I try to live worthy to meet Him someday with no regrets. I love that feeling.

How I live my faith

I go to church every week and I read my scriptures each day. One of my favorite parts of the day is early morning seminary. I enjoy going early in the morning because it forces me to wake up. I also enjoy going to Youth night on Tuesdays and participating in the fun uplifting activities with my friends. I try my best to live the standards and be an example to those around me at all times and in all places because I never know when someone is watching me and will be affected by my example. I work to reach out to those who don't know the truth and maybe don't know they need it yet. I also enjoy doing Personal Progress. At times it seems hard, but in the end it is so benefitial. It has uplifted my spirit and helped me uplift others.

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

It is important for us to take care of our bodies because they are a gift given to each and every one of us. Heavenly Father designed every person specifically and with the gentlest love and care imaginable. You wouldn't brake a gift given to you by a friend, we shouldn't harm the bodies given to us. Our bodies are called temples of God because His spirit (The Holy Ghost) dwells within us when we are worthy to receive Him. Heavenly Father loves us so much that he gives us gift after gift to help us on this journey back to Him. One of these many gifts is the Holy Ghost. He guides us on our path. However, he cannot dwell in unclean places. We must keep our bodies clean so that we may always have the companionship of the Holy Ghost with us. Show more Show less
